Hey Guys,
I am thinking about upgrading my stock skis. I have heard good things about the new Tuner ski from Yamaha and also about the Pilot ski. Looking for feedback especially from those that have tried both. I have heard from a couple of TY guys that the Pilots will make my sled feel like it has power steering. How about the tuners? Looking for pro's & cons on both options.
Thanks in advance for your help!

I had pilots and am trying the tuners this year. I found the pilots completely eliminated darting and had light steering but pushed bad in corners, especially in powder of soft snow condidtions.

I have used Kimpex Arrows which are remarkably similar to the Yamaha Tuner skis. They turn a lot better than the Pilot skis, easier too. Imo, Skidoo Pilots fails in loose snow turning as they tend to push in the corners.
The Skidoo Pilots I had were the wider 6.9 Mountain skis, which I had hoped would provide better flotation and turning ability in powder snow, but disappointed me again.
However, don't expect much from the Tuner ski in deeper snow. They truly are a great ski on the trails
without any darting...also about the cheapest ski on the market.

I very rarely go off trail. There is a reason they call my sled a GT.

I LOVED my pilots on my Apex. It felt like it had power steering. I would recommend them to anyone. The only downside for me was that the plastic is soft and they wear quickly in less than ideal conditions.

Is there a specific model of Pilots that I should be looking for? What is the approximate cost?
5.7 is the trail ski, 6.9 is the off trail/mountain. I use 6" center/ 4" outer carbides. I saw a pair on craigs list for $125 today. They really work well, good luck

I found this ad on Craigs List:
5.7 pilot skis came off 2011 mxzx. skis have 980 miles and in nice condition. skis are black with black loops. comes with NO carbide or bolts or rubber cushion. FREE SHIPPING within Minnesota.
Can I use my Yamaha bolts and rubber cushions? Is this a good price? What are they worth new?

You will need skidoo rubbers, and will also need to change the bushings location. The yamy bolts should work.....now go get em ....snow is comin

FYI on 6.9 pilots there are two differnt kinds, one has same dual keel as 5.7 (but wider)and the "mountain" ski has a single keel. Normally they dont tell you which 6.9 it is. On ebay from leaders marine I ordered a set of 6.9 and told them exactly what I wanted before I purchased them and they assured me theyd send the correct ones with dual runners, then they sent me the mountain skis with single runner. I did finnaly get the ones I wanted after eating return shipping and then they upped the price 70.00, said the ones I wanted cost more.
I havent had a chance to try mine yet though.

It will just kill me to put Ski Don't parts on my Yamaha. I wish I had more positive feedback on the tuner ski.
