Ok guys I officially miss my Apex engine braking. I rode the wife's Vector around for 90 miles this weekend and that thing has great engine braking and I feel like it is more useful than the hand brake for setting up into a turn. Is it an engine program thing or is it a clutch thing?
Right off the Yamaha web site:
- EBRS Engine Braking Control
The effect of 4-stroke 'engine braking' when the throttle valves are closed has a significant impact on Handling and ride character. Yamaha developed a special system which employs the ISC (idle speed control) circuit and ECU map using throttle valve movement and RPM information to reduce negative intake pressure during deceleration.

I don’t see the need for anymore engine braking. I barely ever even use the brake as if is.
Everybody's situation is different. For me, I mostly ride extremely tight trails and it really comes in handy. Been missing the engine braking of the Attak.

I understand. For me it seems like a lot coming off a Polaris 800 with no engine braking.

It really goes back to the fact that I come from an apex so I was used to the engine braking. I kind of forgot about it as I got used to the sidewinder. That quick blast on the vector reminded me of what I actually enjoyed for tighter trail runs. It would be interesting if it could be done with programming and if I hated it I could always go back.
