2009 yamaha fx nytro Rtx
So I purchased the tunnel and rail extension off of tracks usa for my 2009 yamaha fx nytro rtx. I'm going from a 121" to a 144". I installed my new 144" track and attempted to bolt the skid up with the new rail extensions installed. I got the two front bolts in but can't get the back two bolted up. I have the rear bumper attached to a pulley from the ceiling and when I lower it down the track tightens up and the rear bolt holes are about an inch off. The track is so damn tight as of it's to small. The track tensioners are backed all the way off. I don't know what I'm doing wrong here. Someone please help me

DID YOU TAKE THE TENSION OFF THE REAR SPRINGS?

ALSO WAS THERE ANY PLAY IN THE OVAL SLOT WHERE THE TUNNEL EXTENSION FITS IN THE RAIL AXLE HOLES.
SOMETIMES IN THE INSTRUCTION THEY WANT YOU TO PUSH THE EXTENSION FULL FORWARD BEFORE YOU DRILL ANY HOLES.
HOPE THIS HELPS.

When I put my skid back in, I use a ratchet strap to pull the top of the rear shaft to the top of the front shaft. This brings the front and back closer together without undoing the springs. This is an invaluable trick that saves a lot of frustration. Easier if you put the strap on while the skid is out but possible when in.

If you release the torsion springs, you can pretty much put the rear on the ground and line up the rear bolt holes by hand....

That is definitely the most common technique discussed on this forum. I've just always done it with a strap. Works for me, just another way to skin the cat. To release the torsion spring, do you unbolt the outer idler that the spring slides through? Thanks for the advice.

just push the top of the plastic piece forward and it will go.

Nice, thanks. I've never even tried it like that! The strap trip was the way I learned it years ago. I love this site. I just put mine back in today because I'm in deep with mine. After reading a thread on exhaust donuts on this forum, considering the fact that Southern Ontario has NO SNOW, I decided to check mine. Low and behold, I have no donuts! Well I got some copper ones and and put them in today. Oh well, if the Nytro was a 2-stroke, I probably would have burned a piston up! C'mon snow!!!!!!!!

I used to use the strap method too until I found out how easy it was with the torsion springs released. Polaris doesn't have the top on the torsion runners...Not sure how I found out the Nytro simply rotate out of the way...probably somewhere on this site.

I hear you with the current snow status. I'm in Quebec about 1 hour from Ottawa. We're supposed to get some snow/rain on the weekend...keeping all my fingers and toes crossed.

I replaced a broken flex pipe and installed copper donuts over the summer...hardest part was the exhaust hanger under the tank....had to drill it out.

I must have been motivated by your thread then! I soaked those two hanger bolts with Moove-it and got the bolts out easy enough. Then I couldn't shove the header forward enough to free it so I had to drill the bracket out anyway! The hanger on the header was breaking off like I saw on another thread so I had to re-weld it. I'm hoping I won't have to look in there again!

I've added removal of those bolts to my yearly maintenance routine...doesn't take long to get to them so I will remove them and coat them with never seize annually now...

BTW...I couldn't get the header off the hanger either but I was able to push it back far enough to remove the flex pipes...
