I'm tired of the ice build up. I've read removing the protectors can reduce ice build up. I dont have pics and don't plan on picking track. Any risk of track lugs hitting the muffler or pipes?

No it should be okay as long as you never plan on studding your track.

I've run without mine the last 3000 KMs with no problems - just less ice buildup.

I removed mine two seasons ago and I run an 1.75" Back Country. Never had any issues with the track rubbing on anything. A word of warning though, if you remove the protectors on the heat exchanger be extremely careful. It is very easy to crack.

I want to run an 1.75" Back Country. do I have to remoove the tunel and heat exchanger protectors? If I don't will it rubs?

Yes you have to remove both tunell and heat exchanger protectors.

I have the exact same sled, and same track. Both has to go..

Get a dremel and a some good cutting wheels and your'e ready to go

- And don't forget safety glasses.

Good luck.

I left some of the weld on mine. Cut the tubing first then slowly grind it down so it has no sharp edge left. Dont get to close or green juice will be flowing.

Thanks for the advice!

I left approximately 1/8" of each side of the tubings on the front heat exchanger on mine. I remove the material with a regular Makita grinder and everything was good. I can take a picture if you want.

I took the protectors off that where under the tunnel and left the ones on the front HX
