Just wondering if this really works for keeping ice build up down in the tunnel. Also wondering if the protectors have anything to do with the tunnel structure and rigidity.

Hey all. I just took my tunnel protectors off when I installed my 1.75 BC and extros. I have ridden around 300 miles since then on hardpack with scratchers as well as some very minimal "powder". I can honestly say that is helps but there is still pretty significant buildup. I would probably say it cuts it down by 50% but it is like i said very significant still. The back of the sled is extremely heavy and very hard to lift. I have to kick my tunnel from all the way in the back to the front to get it to fall off. When I do this it will knock most of the ice down onto the track and helps quite a bit. I have heard that the tunnel block off plates work well and this would help with some of the buildup around the muffler which gathers a good amount but the majority of ice i can see is just stuck to the side of the tunnel. I am looking for a little more basic solution to help with some of the icing. I am thinking maybe some teflon spray or PAM might help the situation. I realize it wont help long term but even if it helps with when i kick the side of the tunnel.

The Pam grilling spray works. And it smells like your cooking for a few miles.

Get rid of tunnel protectors + block of the muffler + a coat of fluid film for good luck= Significantly less ice and snow build-up. Not perfect but much better.
