Which one? I have 6
I have a 2012 Apex XTX that I am thinking of turboing, not supercharging. My 04 Warrior is still going, and I had one of the first MCX kits in Ontario. I am looking for some real world usage, as far as kits. I want over 250 hp and reliability. What kind of kits do you guys have on your Apexes and how reliable have they been. How many miles on the motor with the set up? Any mods to the motor? Boost adjusters? What kind of clutching are you using and has it been reliable on belts for the long hauls? ETC ETC ETC
Thanks for the input guys.;)!

If I recall there is a post on here with the roll call of guys listing how many miles they have had safely with boost somewhere.... And that list was quite impressive

2011 Apex Xtx Mcx Eps 295 hp head shim, Mcx kit , 14700 km flawless, Ulmer clutching. Hallman boost controller , mostly run 8 lbs , great fast ride !Only need 14 lbs once in awhile to wake you up ! Pump gas always.
At 8 lbs riding hard , fast better than stock on fuel !

i have a 2012 apex xtx with a 290 mcx on it run 14lbs on trail on 91 octane and it seen 20lbs on race fuel 4000 miles Ulmer clutching

ALSO , I put a new Yamaha 8dn belt on each fall , just because I feel bad for it !
I (touch wood ) have never blew a belt, on this set up ( ULMER CLUTCHING ) , and have ran 10 miles plus wide open down a lake more than once !

That's good info on the clutching. Ulmer probably has it nailed. I remember when I built the first turbo took some time to dial in the clutching.
Boost controller is important. Is the Hallman a good controller? I had some issue with some of the other controllers I have tried. Primarily keeping good control of boost without spiking. Thanks for the info guys. Keep it coming. Appreciate all your feedback.

The Hallman controller has been 100% would buy it again in a minute !

Now have you used the fuel controller from mcx or did you use a pc5?

I have a 290 MCX kit rear mount with the electronic boost controller/guage and have it turned up to make 20lbs of boost which puts me at 350hp. Have Wiseco low compression pistons, Carillo rods, ARP head studs. Run 100 octane non-ethanol or 91 and 110 low lead mixed 50/50. Have approx 2500 miles on this setup now with now issues. Blew a belt after the very first couple rides because I had not vented the bellypan yet. put Timbersled vent kit on and have very few issues. I usually put a new belt on each season and put the old one in for the spare belt. It runs flawless and absolutely screams. I have installed headshims and other 290 kits for guys and yes headshims are easier and work OK but I prefer to just build the motor and not worry about it

I bought my sled from a ex drag racer and have had nothing but problems with the Simons cpr exhaust system. Header blew out and now today found out my dump pipe rusted out. Be sure to find out what materials everything is made out of before committing.

Mcx-200 with ulmer.it has 3510km on it .turbo has been there for 1200km.Not many miles , but many hours,MCX makes other sleds look like Kittycats:cool:
