I put the turbo in this weekend. It is a Bender Stage 2 on a warrior. First of all, thanks to Michael from Bullydog Techologies (208-397-3200), who sold me the turbo (Bender had a two week wait while Michael had them in stock) and answered my questions and gave me tips as well as called me to check on how things were going. The install was not too difficult but time consuming. Some of the instructions are not that clear but I have seen worse. I probably spent about 18 hours on the install. Alot of that time was just figuring out exactally what the instructions are telling you to do. I think that the next install would take 8 or 9 hours now that I have done one.
Now for the fun part! I took it for a couple of passes in the field behind the shop and this thing is scary fast. 162 studs is not nearly enough. It takes about .5 seconds to build boost and at that point it takes off like a rocket ship. The lag is probably actually a good thing as it allows you to get rolling before the power really comes on. I raced my old SRX which I sold to a buddy this past year. It is fairly quick with the Bender power package. I thought it was quicker than my Warrior before. Now, on the launch, we are even, but within 60 feet, I walked away like he was standing still. The guys from the shop were amazed. Everyone took it for a pass and were beyond impressed.
I did have an issue with difficult starting, even when hot. I moved the electric fuel pump wire from hot at the key to hot upon ignition, and it cleared it right up.
Anyone with install questions, feel free to ask.

I have the Bender turbo too. I have some tips for you if you are interested. Make sure the pump shuts off when the engine dies......same as the headlights. If the pump continues to run if you tip it over, you'll end uo like I did with 4 gallons of gas pumped into you motor and air box. I didn't get to the key right away, then when I did it was too late. I pulled the bottom hose off the air box and drained out a full flow from the hose for 4 minutes. I hooked the pumps up to the blue headlight wire on the fuse box....works great.

Congrats guys. I hope you get the bugs out. It's hard to believe the instructions didn't specify where to hook the pump wire, since it is so important. If you guys figured it out, why didn't Bender?

The instructions did say where to hook it up, it just seems to work better if you hook it up to a wire that only has just on ignition instead of the wire that has juice when the key is turned. There are always ways tp make these things better and more reliable.

I had mine out Saturday, there were some awsome sleds out, none were stock. None could climb with me, the closest was a 900 Cat, the hills he was getting 3/4 the up, I was going over the top at 3o mph ground speed. There were some impressed guys there. The most common comment I got was "I didn't know these things ran like that" and "How does such a heavy sled do so well?"
The high marks are mine, no one else could get up to the little plataue where I turned around, on the way back out I Itook it out all the way.

Doggin,
Good job. Glad to see you like it. I thought you might.
I'm curious where exactly you are with clutching and jetting? pitot, needles, mains, screw?

I am using the heel clickers from Michael. Bolt and aluminum nut on tip, middle empty, shoulder screw and washer, spring with kit (I don't recall color). The secondary was left stock per Michaels suggestion. I have not gotten to ride in a place good for testing the clutching yet. The kit came with a secondary spring, are you guys not using it? What about the twist?
The jetting is stock Warrior 135 all the way across. Right now I have a 280 in the pitot. The needles are dropped to the lowest setting with the plastic spacers in place. I am waiting for my egt boost gauge before I mess with it any more. When the engine is warm I have to give throttle to start. I moved the pump wire to the blue white handlebar wire and this helped, but it still does it a bit. Any ideas? I was thinking about pulling the needle spacers and dropping them a bit more.

So you have the 50-20 Hammertimes. Michael is VERY impressed with them. I will likely be going to those. I have the standard 40-10 Heelclickers. The spring you are using is likely the gray. The secondary spring that you mentioned.... id it yellow? If so that is a spring heel clicker came up with for the RX-1. It is VERY stiff. Most of us are running stock secondary right now. Some are twisted as much as 80 degrees.
What is your elevation? I am 5000-8500. I have 135's 350 pitot, and needles in #1. I too am contemplating going lower with the needles. My pitot is larger than yours because I have a modified stage one kit and the pitot are slightly diferrent.
If you haven't already ordered your gauges talk to Michael. He has a GREAT all in one gauge that shows boost, pyro, and water (or oil) temp. It looks nice and I will be hooking mine up tonight.
On the hard starting...... Install a coolant shutoff for your carbs. If the carbs get to hot they are a bitch to start. If that doesn't work check your float height in your carbs. Mine were WAY off and it made it start a little hard and caused it to load up and die coming down hill.

Float height sounds like it may be the ticket. The other day I grabbed hard on the brakes after making a speed run and the sled died and didnt want to start after. What do you think? Acts like its flooded. Before the turbo I never had any issue. I ordered the gauge you are talking about already. Do you have a pic of it?
I think the diferrence with the turbo is the fact that now you are pressurizing the float bowls. Mine were 7-8mm and they are supposed to be 11-15mm. I went to 11mm. Powder Blue talked to a couple of diferrent Yammie mechanics and they said that all of the ones they have done have been way off too.
I haven't taken a pic yet of the gauge. It is at home in a box. Michael has a pic of it on his website installed in a truck, but it is a very poor pic at best.
