I am wondering what the recommended gearing for a MCX 240 Nytro running 10-12#boost at sea level would be? It is an MTX with 7 tooth drivers and 2.5" or 1.75" 153" track. Right now I have 20/40 and am probably geared way too low and blowing up belts. Just wondering if 22/40, 23/40 or 24/40 would be better? Is anyone else running a similar setup?
TIA

I run 15-20lbs 144 track trail sled at sea level-800 ft and have 25 top gear but think a 24 would be better

Buddy of mine runs 19/40 on his 08 MTX with a MCX180 kit. I run 21/39 (stock) gearing on my stretched out RTX (144" 1.75"), but have just re-geared to hopefully make the belts last longer.. I went with a 19 tooth top so my new gearing is 19/39.
I would say your'e fine with 20/40 gearing, and would at least not gear it up anything..

Thanks guys for the feedback. Im going to try 23/40. Right now with 20/40 my clutches shifting out way too early and belt is slipping in the secondary. From what I read it is common when geared too low with the extra HP. Ill see what it does and report back.

If you got with 23/40 the strain on the cluches will be even more.
If you go flat out with that track and 23/40 you will destroy the long lugs on your track.
If it slips in the secondary, a proper cluch set up is the fix. (The oem secondary is way to soft)
I have a 2.5" CE 162 with 21/40 13psi at sealevel

Going to 1.75" track since there is no powder right now. If I go back to the 2.5" Ill be going to 22/40. Winters here have been getting worst every season. What is your secondary setup? I had the white spring in at 70deg.
