I have a 2011 Nytro Mtx with a push turbo installed.

*WITH DOUBLE HEAD GASKETS*
I also only run 93 octane, or 91 no ethanol. i do not want to mix fuel.

it is currently running 9 to MAYBE 10 lbs of boost.

I have an upgraded fuel pump.

My questions are , considering i trail ride in WI (sea level):

Would installing a head shim kit kill my bottom end?

what is the compression ratio of a stock engine?

what is the compression ratio with a .080 shim?

I could also leave the headshim out and reduce my timing.???

I am happy with the performance , I just want to be sure its safe enough!!

On 9 lbs it moves out pretty good and there doesn't seem to be any lag. :rocks:

Use the boost/octane calculator to figure out where you want to be with boost, compression ratio, octane and HP.

I run an MCX kit with a 0.060 stainless shim and two gaskets instead of splitting one. I don't notice much lag. MCX kit come with a 0.080 aluminum shim and split a gasket. Gaskets are about 0.020 thick. I run 14lbs with this and to be safe I add Torco octane boost to make 91 to 95. I also stay around 11.8 A/F at WOT. When I had my engine apart this summer there was no signs of damage.
There are a bunch of options out there for shims, I think Ulmer sells just a gasket that is about 0.060. I also recommend doing cam timing to Hurricane specs using his jig since adding a shim will change the timing. I noticed an improvement with cam timing done properly.

Good to know! thanks for the info.

I am interested in the .060 gasket. i think that a .060 shim with double gaskets will be too much for what i want to do. I'm afraid of getting lag, especially with the winding trails around here.

or i could run the .060 with double oem gaskets and run 12 lbs?

note: I do often run Lucas Oil Fuel octane boost. + 93 oct.

I know you are running a turbo, and I'm running a s/c, but as a reference I am running both, timing changes, and a shim for low compression to increase my boost, but to also keep the octane at 92. All supplied, setup, and installed by ulmer. He knows a lot about the pluses and minuses of the push kit, and could set up your sled to be at its quickest...

What exactly is the difference in cam timing between Hurricane specs and MCX specs of grinding the sprocket to stock position after raising the head? What are increased benefits of Hurricane? Advanced timing?

The benefit is if either hurricane or ulmer work on your sled or provide you with parts and or suggestions it is serious knowledge and proven results.
In muskoka I use the mod father located about an hour from me for all my parts, service and most importantly advise.... Far above my knowledge they give me a package that works.
