Bought myself a turbo Phazer for the winter, and this being my first turbo sled I have a few questions.

-2007 mtx with the MCX kit and head shim installed.
-aftermarket tunnel with nytro skid and 162 track
-AEM brand AFR guage
-aftermarket fuel press. reg with guage
-typically ride in the 5000 - 9000ft elevation range

Previous owner had a connection at the local airport and was running a mix of av/pump gas. I talked to the tech at the local dealer who built the sled and he said any premium pump gas should be fine. I am currently using Chevron 94, but heard a rummor not to use Chevron brand fuel in a turbo. Any truth to this?

My AFR's are generally in the 12.0 - 13.0 range under steady throttle. This sound about right?

I am fimiliar with reconising detonation in a n/a engine. What would be the symtoms in a turbo engine be?

The sled doesn't like to start in very cold temps and needs several minutes of warm up or it will stall if you touch the throttle when it is cold. Once the warmed up it starts and runs great. Is this typical for this setup?
I am thinking of pulling the spark plugs to check them. Should I be using stock plugs and gap?

Otherwise is runs great and I am very happy with it. Is there anything else I should know to help the performance/longevety of the engine?

Thanks

What lb are you running the turbo? That will depend on if you are ok with premium gas... The head shim a + but will give a little turbo lag. @ 5000-9000' im sure you will be just fine...
A/F ratio: High 11s to 12 @ WOT, 12-13 @ mid, 13.5 to 14 @ idle
Stock plugs; gap @ .0018
If concerned about detonation, get a knock sensor...Also check the burn on the plugs.
Warm up; check your A/F ratio @ idle and plugs. Phazer does not like cold temps, normal, give it time to warm up..

Never heard of the Chevron 94 rumor. For added security add an octane booster, i.e. Lucas, STP, or Outlaw. Cant hurt..

Good luck...

Thanks for the info
My AFR's are right in the range you say; so that is good to know.
The gauge says im 12-14lb boost range. AFAIK it is a straight up stock MCX kit.
I also have a non-turbo phazer, so the lag is a lttle annoying compared to what im used to, but i find changing my throttle habbits can help minimize it.
