I say we meet in December in Northern Wisconson on ROCKs lake. I can bring a Lightning Pro and A Mc Express. Jeff would supply the CPR and someone get ahold of DOC to bring his Bender. Hey how about lakeracer. You want to come down from the get white outdoors with your new Rear mount? This would be a blast.
anyone interested in doing this?

I'd love to come, and would be there in a heartbeat. Do I bring the big stuff, or a production kit....? No worries, I'll bring both.

I think you need to have a few rules to this get together. First you must specifiy that all motors must be stock internally (no low compression pistons, etc) & also you must state the amount of boost that everyone can run (equal hp level for all). This all must be checked (boost level settings, motor internals, etc) by someone who isn't biased towards anyone company.
Edit: You must get either 91 grade pump fuel or 110 octane race fuel & everyone fills their tanks at the starting line!

I don't think the sleds should be put to the same baseline if this is an evaluation of one kit vs. another. Instead, the sleds should be configured as per the instructions that ship with the respective kits - anything else would be misleading to potential customers.
We could easily do another setup where everyone runs the same gas and boost setting, but I don't see what it would really accomplish.

What's the limits? Is this an all out who's turbo is fastest? or comparing trail setups? I would think trail and 1/4 mile or 1000' would provide the best info for those of us on the site.

I agree with srxspec you will need some rules to folllow.I think most would be interested in a shoot out of trail turbo's running on pump gas.If you want to take the gloves after that and turn up the boost have at it that would be interesting as well.

How about all involved go for a 100 mile trail ride first then end up at the lake to do the shootout. That way the kits will have to be in trail trim...BBY

Matt I have a better idea. Let the old fart gang ride them for a bagger trip and end up on the lake for the shoot out. No one to touch the sleds between the trail ride and the shoot out!! :ORC

You have to have some sort of limits & have each sled setup so it's the same HP as the others (or very close to it anyways). Otherwise it's going to be whoever is willing to push their sled the hardest will win.
Well I think you'd have to class them, trail trim class and open. We have two Lightning Pro sleds to bring. One trail and one race only. The race only will run 15 pounds boost and strait race fuel possibly NOS. the trail one will run 8 pounds and run 93 octain pump gas.
As far as a guy checking them for boost levels anyone can chnage a boost controler. I think Honesty is the best policy. I know people will think people are cheating but in this case it's hard to monitor Boost levels.
I'm not interested in a 100 mile trail ride. If it holds together in 1325 feet int will last in any trail situation.

Ok, I have rethought my "rules" for this race. The only rule is that everyone MUST sit down after the race & shoot the breeze and drink a few brews (maybe our canadian friends could supply us with the good stuff
).
I think Jt hit the nail on the head when he said there should be one trail setup as it would be sold to a customer & then another one in which it'll be a high HP war! I wanna see some melted pistons

The most important thing for us trail riders is it going to hold up to all the riggors of a 2,000 mile trail ride with out tinkering. Is it going to shake itself apart, crack exhaust pipes, break mounting hardware, loose or lost bolts or develope leaks and other catistrophic problems that develope on a ride in the toollys? Is it going to require us to carry extra oil as we did with the 2 strokes?
Is the sled going to stand up to all the additional power with out major compont failure?
Then after the trip have a shoot out for all the machines that make the trip trouble free. It would be valuable to us to know these facts. Look at all the problems most people have with stock sleds from reliable manufactures like Yamaha and Polaris.

Boss - sounds like the right way to do it.

As far as the 2000 mile thing goes, some will have issues and some will not. There are too many variables on any one sled to make that a valid sampling of anything. In order to be accurate you would need at least 1oo of each one to give a meaningful representation.
Besides Jason is just proposing a shootout, not a turbo reliability test. As for boost, etc having 2 classes would probably be best. Pump gas and anything goes. More importantly would be that they all be in a stock chasis. Would it be fair to run a stock skid against a Wahl? What about tracks? How about a half inch Camo against a 1.25" trail track? Studding? Distance? Anything less than the quarter is pointless with the turbos. Does Kip get to bring his 350 hp monster or just his 132 mph(in a 1000') Bender. But he uses a Firecat suspension and track is that fair?
