Turbo Shootout

In trail form you'd need a trail track and suspention. In race form run what you brung. If you want to use a whal great. If you want to use a Proline great also. I'm still of the opinion that who ever has the best dialed in sled at 250 to 275 hp will win every race. Just my opinion.

As far as dependability goes when you make a mod of this nature you must respect your sled. I'm of the opinion that a Turbo charged RX-1 will run as many mile a normaly asperated RX-1 will as long as you run the proper fuel. As a matter of fact when you Turbo/Super charge a sled there is less stress on the lower half because the rod never unload.

People make me laugh with the reliability thing. It's no different then big boring a 2 stroke. You make this kind of mod you better understand if you abuse your Machine it will break with this kind of HP and torque.

Buckeye if you are talking quanities all these systems are still meer protypes.

I for one want to make sure that a product that I buy is going to stand up to the riggors I would expose my sled too. What does speed stand for if the reliability is unproven? None of us likes to be dragged home or worse yet dragged around looking for a repair shop 2000 miles from home.

How many of these units have been reliability tested on a realistic number of sleds? How many have been tested extensively by unbiasied riders? You can't necessarly say that a owner of a turbo is unbiased.

Lets face it if these are to be real world products lets first test them in the real world where they will be used. Not only will we be loosing the Yamaha warranty but we have all the unknowns of units with out reliability testing.

Right now all we have is the word of Bill Joe, Billy Bob and Billy Who as to what we can expect. I personelly don't know anyone of them personally so how can I blindly spend that kind of money and feel safe on the trail.

How about you?

My point was that you can not evaluate any of them by testing only a few. As for me I did spend the money without all the real world experience. I learned a long time ago that when you buy aftermarket performance products you gamble as far as reliability goes. There are no garuntees. If you want to be fast that is the price you pay. If you want absolute reliability , Stay stock. I have over 1700 miles on mine and I burn oil. Is it caused by the turbo? Maybe and maybe not. I know stock sleds that burn oil. WHatever the cause, I wouldn't be without it and I will find a solution. Once you go that fast, and it does hold together, you won't want to ride anything else. LaLaLa

Buckeye: You hit a home run with that quote!!!! People if you want a 200 hp trail sled that's a got a warrenty buy it from the factory. Oh ya they don't build them. When you add this kind of power you must accept the risk.

That said I believe the RX-1 is the best sled ever built to add this kind of trailable HP to. I don't care what 2 stroke guys say, you can't make this kind of trailable HP with a 2 stroke. If you do make 200 plus HP on a 2 stroke it will never last as long as the RX-1 will!!!!!!!!!

remeber this to, Drive line becomes a question as well after this mod.

Double or nothing? Are any of you turbo guys willing to go double or nothing? I pay the going price for the turrbo and if it is relatively trouble free for one season, then I pay you an additional going price. If it isn't reasonable trouble free I get my money back. :ORC

i could care less about full boost racing, what to race? go to the world series, then you'll find out how fast you aren't. i would like to see a 100 percent stock engine sled with an empty fuel tank. first compression is checked, gas is supplied at the event, now go for a 100 mile trail ride, exchanging each others sleds during the trip to find out their various trail manners, then a 1 mile back to back run across the lake, and line them up. jeff

A turbo rx-1 won the world series---NEONPHIL on his MC express

Who in their right mind would want to race a turbo rx-1 for a mile or more with a trail track--- a death wish for sure. I always thought that a ice race was 660 feet, and thats where the competition is-----

Hey guys, I say you come out West, we hit a 1000' hill 2' of fresh powder run what ya brung! I know me and a few of the good o'l boys on RX-1 turbos would be into that. Just kidding, know what though these damn RX-1 turbos have made us attack each other (Very little to NO other competition) I say we stick to converting (or shaming) the Power Saw Boyz and enjoy the thrill everytime we squeeze the trigger on these things. :4STroke: The way I see it as long as I don't have to go back to riding a 2 stroke I don't care if I do get spanked by another RX-1 Turbo. I like and drive Chevs and if another one passes me no big deal. If it is brand X though then I'm #$%&* . Don't get me wrong, I too would always like to be 1st but sooner or later someone will show up and kick your a$$. Just my $1.00 Canadian or converted .02 cents U.S. worth.

I'll even personally come down there and do the install for you - no charge.

I think what Jeff is trying to get across is if it is still running after two one mile run's back to back across a hard packed lake a two thousand mile trail ride will only be a walk in the wood's, he know's his kit will take it because that is what Yamaha did with it. If i were to buy a turbo for my new Vector my concern's would be dependability first, trail manner's second and then how it run's in 1320 on hard pack. Just my two cent's :4STroke:

Once again this is for Fun. I've always been open to seeing how well the Lightningpro kit runs against the others. I'm also the only one that's been openly supportive of the other kits. I want Yamaha to be the Best.

When Fred, Bob and I started this project it was to build a fast Turbo kit. It wasn't to make a million dollars. Anyone who shys away from this event is afraid to lose money in my opinion. I'm just the oppisite I could careless about money. I'm in it for the fun!!!!! That's why I don't take pot shots at other peoples hard work.

I'll say it again all the RX-1 turbo kits that are out there are awsome!!!! All the companys worked there asses off to bring a good product. Now lets see how they run against eachother.

:D
