When i typed this combo into the search bar oddly enough not one thread came up. Im going to be boosting my 06 gt next season and thought id start comparing these two methods and come up with some answers as to which way im gunna go. I live in the Canadian shield and round here our riding us split 50/50 between lakes and trails. (No mountains for hundreds of kms). Money is always a factor and i dont want to go crazy. 200 to 25 hp is plenty for the twisty turnys. I have the ulmer clutch kit and a drilled airbox and a 136 conversion with a studless 1.25 predator track.

I have had both. SC is just like stock with more power. I only have a mid mount turbo to compare but it’s a fricken rocket ship! Turbo is the king of the lake! It’s very intense and makes me giggle how happy it is to pick the skis up and catwalk at almost any speed. The 240hp mpi kit was great but the turbo turned the sled into another dimension. I’ll have my SC kit for sale soon.

The old rule of thumb was SC for flat land and turbo for the mountains. The SC's are instant response without any lag but do hit a wall. The turbo tends to keep building like a locomotive and is great for the steep and deep where heavy lugging is the norm.
That's what one of the shops that does plenty of installs of both applications told me on the Apex.

Ya im thinking the ..."off tbe bottom" power of the SC is the way to go for trail/lake running. The old rule of thumb was SC for flat land and turbo for the mountains. My buddy just sold his 2006 Attak with an MPI supercharger. I think it was around 220 hp, around 7 lbs boost. It had almost 10,000 miles on it, trouble free.
He ended up getting a SW this year and did the Hurricane flash.

I've had/have both.
Prefer Supercharger for trail.
Turbo 10% better fuel mileage making more power but the lag in my rear mount MCX 290 is annoying in the twisties.

I think its important to clarify what turbo your running, Front mount, mid mount, or Rear mount. Seems like some lag with a rear mount is always going to be present, mid mount are responsive and should have zero to minimal lag, and front mounts crack headers LOL. The SC is fun for trails, but my mid mount turbo is king of the lakes by miles.
Regards to mountains they used turbos because they would add more boost automatically to compensate for altitude where a SC is fixed.
Your choices:
SC is if you like stock body, stock exhaust and want very little adjustment; add gas and ride type of thing, this will be fast but hit a wall around 110-120 and creep to 130-135mph max
The mid mount turbo is significantly more complex to install, operate, but dang the surge at 100mph+ on a lake is like a stock sled at 20-30mph INSANE!
Pick your poison. Only piece of advice I have is be careful; after riding a boosted apex EVERY sled seems slow, boring, and dumb to ride. Seriously it ruins you. I have no NEW options to buy just to go ride except a winder and even then I would have to flash it, and modify it to get it close to the apex.

So that, kind of answered my question. How about a place to get a midmount turbo header or find a build with pics of someone who has do e it already. I've looke a bunch and can't seem to answer where to get the oil supply from and how the charge air is ran from the turbo.

I turbo charged my RX1 back in 04. I have owned lots of sleds in the mean time and yes others feel gutless compared to my turbo. It does ruin you as far as being satisfied with the power of anything else.

If I did a mid mount what kinda fuel mileage can I expect? I'd still be trail riding and I would most definitely be it stuck in powder just because. In the meantime I'm heading over to Kinger's garage.

Oil comes from a adapter that goes on the oil filter. Air is pretty self explanatory looking at the Picts in my garage.
I’m not seeing the mpg ever one else but I couldn’t stop pegging it on the lakes! 10mpg for both SC and Mid mount so far. Only 300 miles on my mid mount.

I would use sc less heat issue better trail manners easier to clutch as starts pulling right away and no turbo lag 220 HP clutched right should make you grin all day long

- 12 Apex XTX MCX powered
My 2012 XTX with 290 MCX turbo gets better fuel mileage than my wife's 2001 Venture 700! 50% better! Like she takes $30, I took $22, from the same nozzle, I fill hers first so I get good premium.
I have no issues with lag when trail riding, the sled is dangerous at 12 psi. Swinging over 106 grams per weight with Hauck Heavy weights.
I speed up to a real 130 mph each time I hit a lake, then slow back down to cruise! LOL
