Turbo Water Injection

Alcohol injection

I s/w Steve at SMC enterprises and am researching the possibility of him making an entire kit for the RX-1. He is mostly automotive has done a couple of bikes. Some of the automotive parts should retrofit.Photos of the kit in my car are attached. Kit consists of 2qt alcohol bottle with elec. fuel pump inside, wiring harness, and control box which controls amount of alcohol injected and what boost pressure alcohol kicks in. Very nice plug and play system. Problems with RX-1 will be placement of componets. Stan

UPDATE

I have some Aquamist nozzles coming to check placement. Best location appears rubber flange between carb and intake. This way alcohol does not go thru carb. Corrosive to alum. and possible damage to plastic parts.Appears front storage box and toolkit will need to be removed for alcohol bottle and pump placement.

How triggered

Lance, Fully automatic with the system I am working on. See photo for control box in previous post. You set it to activate at any boost level, and also set it for the amount of alcohol injected.

Adrenalin Rush, do you have a better picture of that control box?

Any prices on your kit?

Thanks, Lance

ken-I bet that knock sensor would workjust fine.

slacker--that is the link that started the post, no wonder I thought it looked familiar when it came up!

you are going to use both units to get dialed in? Isn't that kinda the same?

I guess someone is paying attention, I should too.

The reason for using both gauges is that each has it's function. The wide band O2 is to tune for power and safety. I know that I want to run around 12.5 to 1 on the O2 for power at wot, I also know that it is a safe ratio to keep it from burning down. I can run a bit leaner during light throttle operation. As much of pain in the a$$ at it is going to be, I will be checking the plugs to get some correlation between proper color and the O2 readings, just like you would with an egt. The knock sensor is for fuel requirements. There has been a lot of argument on here about fuel requirements and boost numbers, I don't know what to believe. I am going to play it safe and find out where I can run with out breaking the motor. I know all about detonation from running turbo 2 strokes. I have a stack of pistons and cylinders as reminders of why to avoid detonation.

Installed a snow performance water/meth kit all went smooth. Just tight on space for all the parts. Put pump under tool kit, converted storage bin into tank. Installed injectors into rubber boots. Controller behiond speedo. Then Plumbing and wires all good ran a few passes and works so far.

injection

I forgot my camera when installing. Pictures after are almost worthless since the whole install is hidden. However I will try to add some later.
The big question to me was installing jets in rubber boot. I think installing injector into boot will work but will need some time to tell.
