My GT, CPR clutch kit, 144 stud's center belt. 05 Mach all updates, 1.25 Rip saw, over 200 stud's, $1000 in new clutches, and $500 in track dyno time. When we both got good hole shot's we ran ski to ski till about 80 mph than he would start pulling away ( aprox 3 length's at 1/4 Mi). After switching sled's for a while i can tell you the Apex rode much plusher, Did not corner quite as flat as the Mach but was not an issue and had no preblem at all running the twisties with him. I felt so sorry for him due to all the problem's he had all weekend though, two set's of plug's when starting cold, Recoil went south, Spider in primary clutch came loose on second day and had to send trailer back to get him. I had one problem, my inside rear wheel's let go at about 900 Mi. The 1000 twin does run smooth for that big of a twin and on one of the gas stop's got the same MPG and only slightly worse on the other fill up's. All in all my Apex sure is a pleasure to ride and the front end is much more settled and bites very well with the 4 1/2" Duece bar's. Also rode a 600 HO Confusion with 128 M-10, He did not want to give my sled bach and the Vector that was with us wooped up on it. The Apex is IMO the best total package PERIOD!!!!!!!. kviper

Is it me or do the machs sound downright mellow compared to our sleds. did you notice a big difference with your clutch kit? Seems like a lot of guys on this site are doing it, I have never changed my clutchs on old sleds is it worth it on the Apex.

I did not ride it much with the stock clutching but it sure felt much stronger low end and mid range. I guess i would not call the Mach a pig but what i saw is what you should see frome 15 to 20 more HP. With the clutch set up that he has it dynoed 90 HP to the track ( If i remember corectly) wich is good number's frome what i am hearing. So any thing less in clutching and the Mach may have some problem's till closer to top end and i think My run's with him would have been closer if we were on better hard pack as the Yamaha's have a steeper aproach angle and don't like looser snow as well.

Great to see that your sled is running well and beating the machs are always a plus. But, I know for fact the Mach has some major issues with the programming on the top end and that is why we are not seeing the numbers that the 05 Z were pulling. A well clutched 05 Z without the updates and decompression plugs will break 129-131 on the gun. They are not slow on top. Any updated fuel map 05 or 06 run like they are almost out by 15hp. The 06's also have a thicker base gasket. Don't get me wrong, I love my GT and it does run, but I think the Z's will show their true colors once DOO releases an update, which is supposed to come at the end of January. My buddy raced an 06 1000 gade yesterday and he blew it by 5 sled lengths with his F7. I feel sorry for them, because that sled should not have the problems that it does and it should show what 174 hp should go like.kviper said:I did not ride it much with the stock clutching but it sure felt much stronger low end and mid range. Exactly theres no denying that when you get a Mach Z dialed it it's the speed king. Unfortunately (for the doo guys) that seems to take a lot to do in some cases. And everyone wants to beat the big man so they take the most ribbing heh.

As i said in my second post this sled track dynoed in the neighborhood of 90 HP so it is definately not going to get much better. I thought the diff between my sled and his is about what the 15 to 20 HP diff should show. I felt my sled is working well to run as close as i did with as well as his is running. kviper

I'm not surprised either..anyone know how much more hp a HO would have than a 600 polaris classic? I beat an o6 consistantly out of the hole and top end .Oak Hill said:I'm not supprized. The Vector is a very fast sled, clutch it and hang on.![]()
