Hi, just wondering if anbody has got the universal tunnel wrap from atric fx or if you have madew your own. also how is it holding up, and id it worth getting because i'm getting tired of polishing my tunnel every year.
thanks

Mine has so many rivets from the factory I dont think it would wrap. I checked into it awhile back before arcticfx offered it the the local company didnt think it would hold up. Not to say that these new wraps wont so Im interested also.

What about a clear coat? Would it not protect the shine?

I bought the universal wrap from Arctic FX. It is to narrow for the Nytro tunnel. I called him back and he gave me a great deal on his widest size 12" by the length I wanted (great guy to work with). Between that and the generic I made it work. Not sure how well it will hold up, I did it in the spring and haven't rode it yet. It is very thick, and it went down OK over the rivets. Time will tell, here are a few pictures.

I would think a quality material would last a long time, even over the rivets. Think about tractor trailers that are wrapped, they are a rivet convention and experience a ton of bad weather at 65+ mph and they hold up just fine.

If i wouldnt have spent so much on the sled already I would be buying one.

As far as semi trailers go you dont have boots and snow pants riding against them all the time so Im not sure there is a comparison. Clear coat is a paint and the body shop ask me how long the paint/clearcoat would last if you were hanging off the fender? It will scratch do to the rubbing. Im really wanting a black tunnel on my Nytro so I hope these new wraps hold up well. Attakdog your sled looks very nice! Keep us posted.

My tunnel was painted black by a professional shop, didn't hold up. Unless you powdercoat it I don't think it will last. Hope this works better. Thanks for the props bottlerocket, I'll will update

Looks nice...
Boots will wear it out unless it's laminated with some tough clear material.
Is it pre-laminated when you get it?

Ok maybe a better comparison than a tractor trailer that see's a hundred thousand + miles compared to a sled that see maybe a few thousand would be a dirt bike or a race quad? They have graphics that are on the tank panels that are rubbed on constantly by grippy pants in a dirty abrasive enviroment and if maintained they hold up.

It still comes down to the quality/thickness of the material and how its maintained. A good heavy coat of wax every now and again will help it look good for a long time.

Attakdog, that looks sweet!!!!!

I got my tunnle painted then had it covered with 3M Clear. Its held up very well. I have almost 3500 miles on it now.

It's pretty thick and doesn't scratch easily. Seems to have some kind of top coat.
