I grew up in lower MI. Have a few friends Ive been trying to get to come out west to ride for years. Never happens. I got them to commit to a UP trip end of Jan first part of Feb. Was thinking of bringing my Winder vs renting, but cant find anything or anyone riding a mountain sled in the UP.. Im sure there has to be. What are ur thought? Safe for my Mountain MTX or suck it up and rent local...Got a bunch over night. Good times.

Piston rings seated! Check. TD max 17 flawless on the AFR! Check. Great day. 116 miles. No codes no lights & lots of pull. Awesome day in UP! This 22 sled is WAY different then my 17. Rides a lot flatter and less transfer. At this point anyway. Motor sounded great. 168-174 on the coolant temp all day. Time for a moose head!

Havent been a trail rider since leaving MI for the west in 1988. When I was a kid pretty much only riding was trails, so I assumed UP would be same. I guess if there if back country riding then there should be guides for hire. Thank You...Ill look into that once we have dates and exact location we stage out of.If your riding trails it might be a little much

The sled in your picture would be a handful on tight trails Imo. You really have to commit with fast corners, and the narrow front skis will make the sled feel tippy (I had the btx with the skis tucked in and would often tip over with low speed maneuvers in soft snow fields lol. Then I widened the stance and it all went away) I have over 10k on a 153 btx with 1.75 paddle and that was alot of fun, but that is a full on 162 with 3". I don't know what the trails are like where you intend to go, just wanted to tell you my experience with something that is somewhat close to what you have. But don't let me stop you, you will never know until you try, I suggest having a plan B incase plan A doesn't work.I grew up in lower MI. Thank you for your post and info. Ill have to do more research on back country riding in the UP. I prefer my own sled and off trail riding. But plan B will include renting. The sled in your picture would be a handful on tight trails Imo.
