I just talked with my dealer regarding my oil burning. They have put me on the RingFree treatment system. Yamaha told them that if this did not cure the problem, they WOULD put new rings in my engine. I am thrilled after all of the talk that Yamaha would not stand behind their product. I hope that this treatment works and they do not have to open up my engine, but at least I know it will be fixed one way or the other.

It sounds like most of the time the ring free really works 
I hope thats the case for you...because it does take some time to get em rebuilt 8)

If it does need to be rebuilt, it will be over the summer.

Just had the rings changed on at 03 Rx-1M. Everything was covered by Yamaha - even after the warrenty periode was out. Local dealership gets paid 48 hours of work for the job. Yamaha covers work and parts - no qustions asked. There was no talk about RingFree system.
