how do i know if i have the updated float bowls. i have an 03 mtn and i havent experianced any problems but i also havnt climbed many big hills. is there a way to tell if the previous owner updated them

Yep. Remove the carb rack, remove one of the bowls, and look at how the main jet seats into it. If the main jet is sealed into the base of the bowl by an o-ring, then its updated.
