So, I have a completly stock 2004 rx1. i want something I can ride hard through the trails and do some ocasional ditch banging on but still ride smooth and not loose any performance. I know this is alot to ask for, but I would like to hear your input on some aftermarket suspensions. I have heard good things about the m-10, expert x and zx2. do any of these match up for what I am looking for?
thanks

TY 4 Stroke Master
I put an M10 in an 04 Rx1. The steering was almost unbearably heavy. Tried everything to fix it even called FAST. They told me the Rx1 is not a good candidate for their suspension because it is designed to increase ski pressure. That and the inherent heavy front end on a 4 stroke was a bad combo. Take it for what it's worth.

I have the expert x in my 03 RX1. It rides good. Handles my hard riding in the rough trails, and I don't really feel the little bumps. The weight transfer is really good so I like it in powder to. I get 3-4 years on a set of hyfax. thats the nice part.

I bought an m-10 in 1995 and installed it into a ZR700 and never could get it to ride as advertised and you know what ? they told me that the M-10 was made for the ski doo FRA (?) chassis and that it didn't work as well for the cat , go figure . That being said I installed another M-10 ( picked it up used for 500 bucks ) in a 03 RX1 and with the exception of weight transfer found it to be much better than the stock skid. I dont recall any heavy steering to speak of.

- 2010 RS VECTOR GT LTX STOCK FOR NOW!
I just put an expert x 151 on the 03 i ride groomed trails mostly and i put a 1.5 ripsaw and i love it. thought it might be too long and tough on the trails but its a dream! good luck i think any upgrade is good!!!!!!!
I have installed 05 or later mono's in 4 - 03's and found the install is easy the rivet holes in the plates and the tunnel match up and you can find deals on monos for $200 and up at swap meets. The mono can be adjusted easily to get great transfer and the ride is as sweet as any of the sleds up through 09 that I have ridden in a similar weight class.
There is still work to be done with the front end depending on your riding style and length in miles ridden daily. Ohlin shocks, 13mm sway bar and simmons skis and 300 miles a day after day no problem.
