USI Project X skis are hard to turn - fixes?

Anyone have any ideas on how to improve my steering. I have an 06 Apex and use Project X skis. They have way to much front ski pressure as the wear bar wears down in the front and the studs break off in the front. I will shim them this year but I am afraid to as I know this will make them even harder to turn. I run 6" carbides and do not have studs. Should I switch to 4"?

If you are at a slow speed, like making a turn you really need to reef on the bars to get them to go.

Transfer is set just a bit over standard towards max. Limiter strap is stock setting. Revalved shock in the rear. Front shocks are loosened to a slighty longer spring length.

Shimming the skis to prevent the front of the runner from excessive wear will actually make your skis turn easier.

You could also look into the Power Steering plate that USI has in their catalog here: http://www.usi-skis.com/07_USI_catalog.pdf These are designed to increase the rocker of the ski, thus making them easier to steer, but less aggressive.

Really? I always thought it was the opposite, that is good news. Sorry I forgot to mention I do have the power steering plates installed and the mounting position is the middle hole.

I gather that since you mounted the skis in the middle position, that there is a more rearward hole that you can use? If so, theoretically this would make it easier to steer as well. Were there any directions/instructions provided with the skis?

No instructions with the skis. I rode them in the rear hole before but the skis were not shimmed. I will try putting it back in the rear hole and shim them. Maybe even 4" bars if this does not work.
