Having a issue starting my 2010 Vector LTX-GT. Doesn't happen all the time which is the frustrating part of trying to fix this. When you turn the key everything lights up but it just clicks and won't start.

Put a new solenoid and battery (ensured it was fully charged) in it. Seemed ok for one trip out then did it again. Dealer found a couple of chaffed wires and thought water might have gotten in the ignition switch so blew it out and greased it. Again fine for one day out.

Back to dealer for a new ignition switch, went up Northern New Brunswick and put on 550 miles, no problems. Went to go sledding once back home and started off the trailer, turned it off to load caboose to the camp and won't start. Code 12 came up as did the flashing little engine symbol. This is the only time a code has been present.

Called dealership from the trail, said to turn clutch by hand. This worked, started up and enjoyed a 230 mile weekend (sled works like a dream once it starts). They are saying I have a flat/dead spot on my starter.

Has anyone heard of this? Is it possible it could be something else? I am nervous to have the engine out to have a new starter put in as I understand this is a big, not to mention expensive job.

Any suggestions or feedback are most appreciated.

Could have a dead spot on the armature. Just went thru this on my Attak. Replacing the starter fixed this issue.
Its about a day job to replace the starter on a Vector as its mounted behind the motor. There is a way to do it without removing the motor by leaving the botttom motor mount in place and tilting the motor forward. Its a little tight but does work.

does it only happen when the sled is cold? then once warmed up, it starts right away?
