I am thinkin about getting a 4 stroke for the wife. She does not like my attak...likes the power but doesn't like the heavy feel when driving it. She is 5'4" and has rode all brands of sled. I was thinking a Vector but not sure if it would be enough power for her and also does it feel lighter to ride then an attak??? I was also thinking a nytro but am worried she might get cold on it. About 95% of her riding is on trail and any off trail riding is not in the deep anyways. A common day for us (except this year) is a 200-300 mile day so long days are common. She currently rides an 07 Blizzard 800 and gives it hell for sure so just want some opionons on those who are riding them and what they think. I am not brand specific but not sure if a doo 4poke is what I am looking for right now.Whatever I buy (no matter what brand) it won't be new so issues usually will be addressed by previous owners...i.e. skis, track, suspension...ect ect...or at least I know what will need to be addressed. Thanks in advance.

Get a her a Vector. Lots of power there. My 08 Vector ( stock) takes the holeshot on my 07 Attak in 2" loose snow on the river. It just lacks a bit of power over 80 mph. Very smooth engine and quite compared to the Attak as well. The only negative about the 3cyl engine is the primary clutch rattle at idle.

Steiner, does it "feel" lighter to drive...I know I wont have...or don't want to give the $$$ it will take to get the power steering so would have to be on 09 or before if I got one...and again thanks for any input.

i have an 09 vector ltxgt. its the 136 track . its smoother than a 121. plenty of power and once you get rid of the stock skis for something else you wont need the power steering. just gave that sled to my wife and got myself an 11 Nytro. :4STroke: if you find a used one buy it!! if you wait it will be gone when you go back. you dont see many used Yamahas around here.

swmich did you get the long track Nytro??...have you even got to ride it yet???...(how much did you get today)..I ended up with maybe 4" in Buchanan but when I left work at 11 a.m. they had a good foot in Stevensville and it was snowin so hard couldn't see..lol...swm luck I guess....

my moms 5'2, and dont have much stregth, but she can do 350km's a day on both the 08's and 2010's without complaining. the worst part of the day for her is the 7 mile ditch bang ride to groomed trail.

2008 or newer Vector. That's next on my list for the 2nd sled. If nothing else for the gas mileage.

X2, 08 or up as it has the D-2 Chasis.

As far as steering effort goes, mine seems pretty effortless but I do run the Curve ski's and a single carbide (currently 6") but I also know other things can be done to your sled to make your steering effort harder or easier, it's just in the set up.

If she doesnt like the attak do you guys think the vector will feel that much lighter though.....

Nytro and vector

I have both a 2010 vector and nytro 121's.

I ride the nytro primarily and got the vector for my wife. Both are great sleds. We were oriiginally going to get a phazer but it did not fit her, or at least she did not feel comfortable with her arms perched way up high due to the rider forward design. She jumped on a vector chassis and liked it right away. My wife is 5'4" and does not sound nearly as aggressive on a sled as yours.

Make no mistake, the vector is no light sled. Turning and maneuvering at slow speeds is work, the steering is heavy. Once moving it handles easy. The engine is awesome. I like driving that sled at high speed more than the nytro. I did upgrade skis right away that helped.

Based on what you described the vec is probably a good choice.

Good luck
Ms

sound like you should get a vector with power steering...... best trail sled out there in my opinion

I know you said you would be getting at late model sled, but I have a 2012 Vector with EPS and love it. I've not owned a 4 stroke before, but did have a 2005 Renegade that had very heavy steering. I know I can ride 300 miles a day and not feel it in my arms or shoulders with the Vector. Other say that they couldn't tell much difference with or without the EPS. You will have to take their word on that. I do believe there are things that can be done to improve heavy steering if that is an issue. Not sure what you would pay for a late model, but on another post I saw new 2010 going for $8k.

I run Snowtrackers on both my sleds. Makes the steering feel light, almost like power steering. My Vector seems a little easier in the tight trails compared to my Attak. It might be the setups between the two. I prefer running my Attak. I had a Viper before this Attak and really don't feel the weight. The biggest transition for me was the riding postion.

Not sure what a Blizzard is but I have driven a Renegade. That sled did feel lighter than the Attak but rode like a brick.
I bought my Vector for my wife and 16yr old son to drive. Nothing but smiles when I stop and talk with them.

I would get her a vector my wife tips over every time on my nytro and says it's to top heavy but she is only 125 lbs your wife my be stronger than my wife to
