Say a guy were to have an idea to race his vector in the USCC Red Lake I-500 this winter. How do you spose he could do with it? What suggestions would you have to do to the sled. Keep in mind that said guy has an x-c racing backround but it was entirely on Arctic Cat's where he won the semi-pro fan class in 2001 at the 500 and then sort of retired. Said person knows how to set a sled up but that sled would be Arctic and he knows nothing about Yamaha's but exhaust. Also keep in mind that this is stock class racing with open shock rule, open track rule as long as it is from the manufacture of the sled, open clutching but must retain stock primary-weights and springs allowed, open skis. All other general modifications to suit driver comfortability such as handlebars etc. They also may allow other mods if you ask and they deem it to be acceptable.

Also keep in mind that said person is not really sure that he wants to do this yet as he has a business to attend to, plus the expense is cheap as it is in his backyard but if he were to break any thing major it is all out of pocket expense at retail as he doesn't have any help lined up for part or the such. :yam:  :4STroke: :flag: :rocks:

More questions

I have an idea for what shocks and how I'm gonna set them up. What ideas on handling do you think? Sway bar? Longer Links?
I'm or I should say this guy I know is most worried about the front end of things. A-arms, spindles, sway bar, links. Front end dive. Skis. bulkhead. I've or he's been through a few 500's and these area's worry him.

Do you think this sled will handle 500 miles of pure hell? This isn't like a trail ride that most people take. Will the chassis handle the abuse?

Not sure about the RS, but the RX-1 will handel the 500 miles . We ran the first year RX-1 at the Soo I-500 and ( last year race stoped short at about 174 lap due to conditions, bad day). That track gets ruffer than a trail, 1 mile lap-500 miles. RX-1 is stock, lowered with long travel sup. . The RS is about the same as the RX-1, but lower on the front, and a better rear sup. . I think it would do good.
