Buying new sled for wife. She's experienced rider but no expert. She likes easy steering and comfortable ride. She prefers sitdown set up rather than rider forward. Thinking about Venture or Rage. Is Venture too much sled for small woman to handle? Venture Lite is out because she thinks its "butt ugly". Any ideas or experience would be appreciated. Thanks Studdog.

I would go with the Rage because it will be a little easier to handle.

My wife drive the Venture. It is definately a heavier machine, but she handles it well.
Being an Amazon helps.

do you have kids? if you have kids, definately the venture. it still looks good one up with the seat removed, and it has a 144 vs 136 of the rage, i would expect very little difference in handling. in fact the venture would probably be better is the small chatter chop with the extra inches.

I bought a rage for my wife a few years ago, she had trouble turning it. It takes some rider input to get it to turn. If your wife is like most and think leaning is just moving your body a little, i would get her a vector, that is what my wife rides now and she likes it much better.

Before that she was riding a 2002 sxr 600. A longer track gets more bite and is usually harder to turn, kind of like a 121 track with a lot of studs in it. The rage is a great riding sled, i ride it now but she had a lot of trouble with it. I have to wrestle with it alot when i want to turn it.
My wife rides a '05 RS Venture and loves it. Previously, she rode a '99 Polaris SKS 700. Although the sleds are only six years apart, there's 15 years of technology differance between the two. The Venture is just as fast as the SKS and has a much better ride, is smoother, quieter and has the ability to carry two riders.
i'm with wfo, i have a rs venture that the wife rides (with my son) and it took a little finaggling to get the steering right for what the 144 tends to push until you get it moving. that's the smoothest riding machine i've ever rode(and she has) and still has more than enough power unlike some of the 2 ups i've seen and rode.

Yes i do agree with you guys about the ride, the longer track is the best riding yamaha of old.

My wife was riding an 05 SKI-DOO gtx touring machine. The only thing she liked was the fully ar ticulating backrest. She didn't like the rider forward (rev) position and the machine was somewhat tippy and unstable in some snow conditions She likes the old shitdown position. She has tried my Attak but thinks it's also to forward for her. I think a Venture or Rage would work except for the bachrest. Any ideas appreciated!
