I'm looking to purchase the Yamaha back rack for a Venture GT.
Can anyone share some info on this? Apparently it's not available with US Dealers, only in Canada.

How does it mount? Worth the price? Does it allow access to the trunk? All aluminum? Can it hold a lot?

Thanks again,

HH

I've seen it on a sled at a dealer,it does give you access to the trunk, that i know,as far as mounting ,didnt look at it enough,i too was thinking of buying it but i find it expensive, wish there were cheaper options

Hey Pat, I agree, it is expensive, but I believe it may allow a greater carrying capacity than a saddlebag setup.

Thanks for your input,

HH

I have the back rack on mine, its 275 Cdn dollars...You can order them from the Yamaha website...The front portion sits on a hinge system that allows full access to your trunk...Its a very solid rack, should be able to carry a heavy load if need be. I think its 34kgms or approx. 70 lbs.

Heres a pic of the saddle bags on the rack...haven't tried the yet but I know it'll work

Looks great, thanks for sharing. I bet it could handle a duffle bag with the proper strapping

You can also purchase the proper bag with large capacity that sits in the rack and has side pouches. I got the bag late last season but have not used it yet. The rack is indeed expensive (I was lucky to get one from a guy who bought out a closed dealer and got it for $150 or something) and does not have a large capacity w/o the bag - but I'm spoiled by the Venture Lite pickup truck rack (LOL).

Mounting was easy and I believe you have to replace some of the original bolts with the ones supplied - it is easy to install.
