Hi,

Hope this is the right place to post this as I'm new here. I have a 91 venture that we are fixing up and one item to address is a busted upper control arm/ handle bar that is broken right below the 'T' . I've searched for a used one (new are discontinued) and can get one for roughly $110 Canadian. My worry is that I'm buying one that has taken 18 year of abuse. I am looking for advise on the alternate solution below.

I am looking at buying a riser (such as powermadd), grinding the existing handlebars to remove the remnants of the T post and clamping the bars down . My worry herebis that the bars don't have the grooves for the clamps the grip. Does anyone know if they are needed and if I can expect any issues with slippage .

Any suggestions or experience would be appreciated. Tks

Welcome!

You might get better answers over on Totallyamaha.net witch is the 2 stroke side.

I would just use something like the old mountain performance mountain max steering stem stiffener and weld some pins through it as well as welding the column. That is how I fixed an 1990 et400 t/r that I have with the same problem.
