No offense, but I didn't pay 9 grand for my sled, and why would I pay $115 for a registration for one ride? Admittedly it would be fun, but sorry, I can think of better things to spend my money on. To each their own I guess, remember this isn't the only toy some people have ;-)

xprt, you have an 03 rx maybe 7800 plus tax, any studs, cover or other goodies? don't kid yourself your around 9 grand, but don't take it the wrong way I just think the idea is to meet fellow members of the forum and do a ride. All you have to do is 230mi. and your looking at 50 cents a mile.

I'm just outside White River Junction (half way up far eastern side of the state; right on NH border)
Either date is OK. I vote for Sat since trails might be beat up by Sun afternoon. Also, I believe both those dates are part of the school vacation weeks at one school Dsitrict or another so keep that in mind too. It will be busier on the trails for sure.
VT did a study that showed they would actually LOSE money on TMA's for less than a season. People have been asking for YEARS!

Boneman, with all due respect, who is kidding who? I paid less than $5000 for my sled with studs and aftermarket windshield.... I agree that the idea is to meet other members and I am all for it, but I can't justify the expense (it's not just $115, it would be $230 for me). So, on one hand I could pay $230 for 2 sleds to go on one ride, or pay $350 for 2 seasons passes to Quebec? You guys are all a great bunch of people, and woudl love to meet other people who have this machine and give me tips on it while looking at it, but...
Just my opinion, and not trying to take anything from the ride, I was totally for it, until I realized the extra expense.

And don't forget the extra insurance! NH doesn't require it, so we would have to pay for that, PLUS the registration just for a 1-day ride. My wife and I already have to choke up almost $150 to register 2 sleds plus the required club membership, and hopefully together we will get 3000+ miles out of that money. If i could at least get to some VT trails to ride, it would make more sense, but the part of VT between us and good riding usually has very little snow, so it would mean trailering. I can be in Maine with 30 minutes of riding, so if i reg. in another state, thats where it will be.
And I'm not expecting the ride to be moved...there is already a Nh ride in the works. Wait to see how many people are willing to pay the VT reg., or who may be VT residents who are already registered there.

OK, here's the deal. I'm going to make a command decision based on the input I have so far. The ride will be Feb. 11th somewhere in the North East Kingdon area of VT. I'm thinking Barton area, although Lyndonville was also mentioned. I'd like someone from that area to step up and suggest a meeting spot, and potential ride route. If no one replies, I'll determine that too. I'm thinking of a meeting time of around 10:00 - 11:00. Ride, then lunch, or vise versa. Right now I have the following interested members:

and of course myself. I can round up a few more local Yammi riders that aren't members of this site, but I'm sure would welcome the company and a great ride. As far as I'm concerned anyone is welcome to come so bring your guests on Firecats, Revs and Fusions. We'll bring the tow ropes (sorry, couldn't resist myself). I'll update when we get more snow and a better sense of the actual meeting place and time / length of the ride. BTW I put on 80 miles locally yesterday. 15 good miles on groomed trails in Eden, 65 miles of rocks, stumps, and open water bars to get there and back. My $400.00 Simmons skis are not amused, but I keep telling myself, "they sell new ones every day", and I just smile and ride. Later guys, I'm excited about our ride

Great! I'll keep you all updated. Long range forecast doesn't look good, but a couple decent storms should make it doable. Right now, VT has nothing to offer. Even in the NEK, the snow is only decent at high elevations and near impossible to get to without wrecking your sled. I'd check before you plan a trip up here the end of the month. Unless the long range forecast changes, there wont be any riding, sadly :~(

Why not just do a Quebec TY ride? It's not that much farther to drive for most of us, they have the snow, and even if we did, there is no comparison on how much better the riding is up there. Plus, the out of staters could pay 50 dollars Canadian for there trail pass vs 100 bucks american for the VT pass. The diffrence in the pass will more then make up for fuel.
Count me in for a Shawinigan Quebec TY ride, hell i will even help set it up!

I won't be riding in Canada this season either. They require a passport now, so thats $165 (priced it already), PLUS the trail pass, PLUS insurance.
I think each of these places should probably have their own rides...let the people local to those places go to their own rides. Or else post a poll to see where people would rather go- northern NH, VT, Canada, or Maine.
Just trying to give ideas...the only ride I'll be doing this season will be the NH one, so I'm out of the running for any other locations...but I'm trying to offer suggestions or info.

You are wrong on several counts. No need for a passport, and the trail pass includes insurance. Next...

A recent newspaper article said that proof of insurance was required, and that due to recent security regulations, passports are now required to enter Canada. I'm not sure of this myself...I haven't tried it...but thats what the article said.

Passports are needed after 2008. Insurance comes with your trail pass.
