What hand guards are you guys using? Will the ones off a nitro work?

The Nytro guards wouldnt fit on my sled... Im thinking about getting the Yamaha/Skinz "soft" guards.

I've been watching pics and it seems that Gade Thrasher and one other member have the Yamaha units on theirs. Look at the thread started by Gade Thrasher about the low sport windshield.

I have the Yamaha SR Viper ones with the CAT Extensions, which work great! The Yamaha and Cat hand guards are identical in shape, which allows for the Extensions to work perfectly. My hands were never cold once last winter, even in the extreme temperatures of -10. The extensions really help protect your hands from any wind.

Did you use the plastic mounts or metal?
If I understand correctly you need to buy the hand guards plus mounts separately correct? Then add extensions on top of that.

I have the plastic mounts, however, I may switch over to the metal ones as the right one was a bit flimsy and bounced around a bit. Correct, you need to buy the hand guards, the mounts, and then the extensions, which all three are separate.

I went with the plastic mounts. They mount a bit closer to your hands than the aluminum ones. I also know someone who had the aluminum ones last year - he tipped his sled on it's side and the aluminum mount broke off. The plastic ones stay flimsy and likely wouldn't have broken in that scenario.

I have Powermadd on my Honda and they have a metal end bar that ties into end of the bar preventing slip off, but this wouldn't work on a curved bar end.

I'd like to find something that doesn't have a big bold name on it. I mean the sled says Yamaha all over I don't need to say it 2 more times
Looks like Rox makes mounts targeted specifically for these sleds:
http://roxspeedfx.com/product/flex-tec-pro-cross-flex-tec-mounts.htm $85
And the guards are $135. No all black.

I installed the powermadd star series with the race flare kit.
In my opinion i think they are the best looking guards available and the blue and white matches perfectly
I fabricated my own mounts.

Back to the old tried/true Powermadd:
http://www.powermadd.com/products/Handguards/sentinel/index.html
Available in all black! White black looks pretty good too if a guy could black out the name.
Needs special mount for the Hayes brakes: http://www.powermadd.com/products/Handguards/sentinel/mount_kits/index.html

+1. IMO, the best looking and functioning system out there of all the ones that don't completely cover your hands.Check out the Rox, Flex Tec Guards. I know they will fit on Viper. I use them on my Nytro and they are pretty sweet.MS
