I’m new the site but have been reading everything I can get on the viper for some time on this site on others.
I do a lot of riding by me self, put 6000km on my Venture mp last winter from Jan to march.
With all the problems the viper has I don’t think it’s the right sled for me.
Problems
-hot and cold starts
-belt needs the be changed on some
-Starter giving out.
-need to change rear idler wheels
-lots of steam when riding in power
I need a dependable sled.
I have been looking at many sleds but think the renegade 900 ace might be right for me.
-900 ace is $2500 cheaper
Viper is faster at top end buy 8 to 10 mph faster.
900 ace gets about 5 + mpg (can) more than viper, that well give me 70 + more miles per tank.
Looking for a new sled for nest season so I Well keep reading on both sled.

Forums are probably not going to give you an accurate comparison. Let me explain my remark, Yamaha faithful demand a sled that is near perfect as past sleds (after first year bugs) have been. Polaris and Doo owners are more used to blown engines and such so they are a lot more forgiving than Yamaha owners. So where a Viper owner may scream about the seat bolt being stuck a Polaris owner may not complain about his second blown engine in 1000 miles.

I routinely ride alone and on occasion ride my sled for work. I have over 5000km on my sled and the only issue I have had is cold start issues which the reflash fixed. On forums you will generally hear the negative points of a sled like Stingray has stated. I run the stock belt since new. I do have a lot of mods but not because the sled needed it but because it is what I like to do. If you are presently riding a venture the 900 ace may be a better option for you as a transition sled. If you want more aggressive clutching and hp than go with the Viper. If you want a bit more performance, in your case the viper deluxe would be a good option with plush ride and the amenities. Good luck and ride safe.
Ride them both on a demo or rental if you can. That's what I did. I bought one of each
Both demos were well broken in. I ran both on late season frozen hard pack snow. Cold morning ride after a warm melty day. Seating position is MUCH different. You sit ON the Viper and IN the Doo. On the day that I rode the Viper was the least darty.
Viper clutching was grabby starting out. From a stop I'd can it, it would hit the RPM limiter then settle in. It pulled harder than the Doo which was a GSX short track. Both sleds hit about 90 mph speedo in the same stretch. I did not try for more speed. I was out solo in smooth fields, but unfamiliar territory and not wanting to crash a demo.
Doo is much smoother and more refined. More thought and detail.
Owning both, there is a much greater difference in performance than what I observed. I attribute this to the aggressive track, gearing and clutching of my Viper. The Doo is still completely stock including the clutching and has less miles. The Doo did run about the same speed on the speedo as the Viper in same conditions. Slower to get there and probably 10% speedo error. I did not swap the GPS to verify.

I should add that I have the Cudney clutch kit for the ACE I just haven't installed it yet. It is said to make the sled much more assertive as power delivery goes.
MPG is definitely better with the ACE. Price is much less too.

I love both those sleds as well. Absolutely love the Yammi 3 cylinder but I also love the Rev XS chassis with R Motion. Im just afraid I wouldnt be happy with the power of the 900 ACE.

I here what you guys are saying. My sled of choice in the viper line would be the LTX DX. In BRP would be the Renegade Adrenaline 900 ace.
I like doing long distance riding, did 295km yesterday, all out in the country.
Not planning on getting a new sled tell next fall.
Just have to wait and see what have changed for 2016
