are the bugs out of the 2015 vipers???/

the thing that gets me is one can be flawless, and your buddy on the same sled can have every problem under the sun. there just to inconsistant.

Wondering if the viper problems have been resolved on the 2015 models? was looking at a left over 14 but after reading about starting issues, starting failing and bogging out, well i don't want to bad mouth them but I read and seen enough that I want to pass on the 2014.

Any problems with the 2015's??
2015 are not fixed. Try a 2016? Do not know about them.

Well, let me rain on the parade. I think it depends where and how you ride to some extent. If it's cold (regularly -30C) then beware. There are lots of guys up here having problems with starters and relays. The relays are freezing when it's really cold. So the machine will turn over (direct connect to batt) but will not fire as relays are frozen. If you are near a plug and have a heater, a few minutes of heat on the relays will get you going. But if you're not, good luck taking them out and warming them at that temperature! And the access is lousy (read poor design). And the relays can freeze at that temp on the trail while you are travelling. Now if you ride in remote areas, you could have a long walk or worse. The relay problem needs a cure from Yamaha. I'm sure you've also heard about the starter problem as well. Again poor design and a cure required. If you ride in the wilderness on regular occasions in cold weather, do not ride alone and beware.
I have had all those problems; frozen relay, starter broke, cold start at -36 NO GO.

found a great deal on a left over 14 thinking of rolling the dice, seems some are good and others r not, i just don't understand the inconsistency

I just rode my 2014 250 miles this weekend with no problems at all. Gas, go and grin.

I have had it to the dealer one time for the reflash and gas line check.

We have 1 14 rtx, no issues except the hot start thing, never didn't start but took more cranking than I like.

I have an xtx le and my riding buddy is on an se. Mine is turbo his na, no problems around 1000 miles. One thing I notice is that the ecu must like that extra back pressure because idle and low rpm cruising IS smoother on mine than his no doubt. And I've started it in -20 weather about a dozen times no problems. I ride this thing like its a xc race sled, I jump it, case landings, smash skis off of trees, hit rocks, throw it up hills, throw it down hills, roll it over, and just recently shoveled out an ice heave rhythm section, watched my friend try to repeat me tripling our set up and his sled got sideways watched him roll that thing a dozen times before it stopped, after making sure he was alright I rolled the viper over and it didn't care at all. Not a single bent or broken part besides the windshield. These things are tough, I know from experience I've changed more apex and nitro parts to at least say that these things are structurally sound. The issues I read about have me thinking. But at the end of the day I don't have any problems. I ran into two guys up in chesuncook Maine one with 4000 miles one with 6099 miles on 14' vipers!!! The guy with 4000 did some chain case update he said and they haven't done a thing besides ride them. And by the looks of their set ups they ride...

Gas GO and GRIN for me too. If you want to top end people have compliants but the Dxs ride and handle great see some LTX guys not happy with ride, but the Dx guys love it, anyway we do.
