Vipers all spoken for

So will Yamaha, they just want you to show your true commitment up front in the form of $500. lol

We'll just have to wait and see. The best sales tactic is to tell somebody they can't get one. Makes a guy want it more.

The last time I recall it being difficult to buy the "hot" sled in the fall was with Polaris in the early 90's. The big difference is they were the number one selling sled maker at the time, their product had mass appeal, and annual new sled sales were increasing every year. This is a different situation. The Viper is a nice sled but it's not everyone's cup of tea. Four strokes still aren't the most popular choice and we're talking about a sled from an OEM who's currently sitting firmly in 4th place in sales with market demand for new sleds decreasing in the USA and Canada.

I've been buying riding snowmachines since '85, and buying new sleds since '89. I'm pretty jaded to the whole process. If a guy wants one they should buy it. Just make sure you are buying it because YOU want it, not because you are scared of missing out. The latter makes it hard to walk into the dealer in the spring and see how much money you could have saved.

You make a good point about the sales tactic however, for a lot of guys like me this is exactly the sled we've been waiting for. I for one couldn't have asked for a better colaberation from two brands I have been for lack of better terms "semi loyal" to.

i remember when my daughters were doll age and everyone was fightin over the last cabbage patch kid rag dolls.....silly consumers!....LOL

I had two dealers tell me the same exact thing. One could only order 10 and claimed the Yamaha rep was trying to pull some. The other dealer wouldn't tell me how many he ordered but said other dealers were calling him trying to get some. Both dealers had them available but expected them to be sold next week after the Shows in GR and Novi MI. Both said that they could not order any more. Neither expect to have any for their showroom and expect to snow check everyone they get. I'm stuck; Get the Viper LTXse or the proven Renegade 1200 X for $1,400 less

Are you going to keep them stock or do performance mods? The 1200 mods cost about $2-2500 for the pipe, clutches and fuel controller but did hear the PCIII controller does cut the gas mileage down a few mpg. Obviously we are not sure about Viper mods at this point.

Not sure where you got your exhaust prices, but I found the header and can for under a grand. Add the fuel controller and possibly just leave that new clutch alone. Now I'd be at the price of the Viper. But the question is would it now beat the viper, get it running with the viper or not?

Ok you are talking kit#2, 3 or 4, I was referring to kit #5 which includes the controller and PB clutch.

I haven't heard how the new clutch (e-drive) is working other than the parts for it are expensive. Sounds like the PB clutch works well and you do not need the overdrive one.

so yur sayin that the aftermarketeers is makin coin off of ALL brands and not just Yamaha?

i dont see how they have that bad of a limited amount of the sleds... D&D power sports here in Lowville NY (arguably the largest and most successful AC dealer in the country) has been selling YAMAHA for a few years now. they have close to 40 viper sleds on snowcheck right now i heard.. just test rode a last minute viper LTX today and i can say im about to add my name to the list of snowchecks.. this is the same dealer that snowchecked 65 AC1100T sleds when this chassis first arrived a couple seasons ago..

You have to keep in mind a lot of Cat riders are choosing the Viper over the ZR7000 because of Yamaha clutching and warranty. So demand may indeed be strong.

That's exactly why I went for the viper over the xf 7000.

Sent my $500 off today. My dealer gets 30. He figures that isn't going to be enough. He has lots of deals pending. There will also be a flurry on April 14. Blue and White LTX SE for me. Also a Push turbo. 530 lbs without gas and 210 HP. Works for me.

How does push have a turbo kit already with weights? Medical maryjanes......

Dealer says Push will be ready in May. Sleds won't be delivered until Sept. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me either. The only thing I can think of is that they have been working on these things for a very long time. Push Turbo installed on Nytro was $4300. Push Turbo installed on new Viper will be $4500. 91 octane and away you go. Dealer gave me such a good deal trading my Apig I can afford a turbo. Always wanted to try one anyway.
