Hi guys i was wondering how mutch of the rail you need to trim when installing the Wahl Bro drivers on a 07 rtx, i have the nitro rail tips which are shorter already, thanks in advance.

I don't think you have a clearance issue unless you've got something else going on. I didn't - not until I change suspensions....

I have the 07 RTX with stock suspension and Whal drivers----No clearance issues at all---just put them and go. :yam:

I'm not sure if the Whal drivers are different than the Doo drivers but I have Doo drivers and they DO hit the rail tips if you don't shorten them.

As a test take the sled and place a log under the front of the sled that is the right size that it brings the rail tips as close as possible to the drivers. Then carefully load the suspension a little and check clearance.

This suspension position isn't likely to happen at high speeds, but it could happen when climbing slowly over a sharp snowbank or climbing up a curb at low speeds.

I can't remember exactly how much I trimmed them but I believe it was roughly 3/8" (I think I posted the amount here a couple of years ago). With the amount I trimmed there is still very little clearance at certain suspension positions and I suspect there would be a little rubbing possible when the front pivot arm bushings wear (as they always do).

BTW, I met two other guys on the trails who were also running anti-ratchet drivers (I don't know the make) and when we checked they both rubbed too so it isn't "just my sled". Neither had had any trouble "yet" and they had both ridden quite a distance since installing the new drivers. I suspect you might hear a strange "brump" kind of sound when climbing over the top of a sharp snowbank or something once in a while if you don't trim them.

Here's what we have been doing in regards to the end caps hitting the rails when installing extrovert drivers on an 07-09 Apex RTX or any sled running the Pro-Active skid in the deltabox chassis. We do cut the rail a bit shorter but also use the shorter end caps off a FX Nytro skid and modify them to fit the Apex RTX rail and still allow you to use the stock hyfax. Here's a coulple photos of what they look like installed - done up like this they provide plenty of clearance.
