I am finding this 4 stroke (Vector) to be a little fussier about the amount of choke during warm up than my Viper was.

It fires right up at full choke and I can bring it to half choke quickly. Here is where it gets fussy. If I let in run on half choke until it starts to run rough I find it very difficult to get it off the choke completely from there without stalling it.

Once I have it warmed up and running it idles just fine.

Any suggestions?

I start mine up with full choke, then back it off until it just starts to idle down. Hold it there just until the red light goes off. Then I back the choke all the way off while maintaing the RPMs. with the throttle. After a few minutes it will run just fine for me.. It never has acted like yours if I do it this way. ;)! MM.

I noticed too that there is a bit of a learning curve. Full choke to start and then pretty quickly you have to go to half. I have to go very easy on my throttle blips or it will die

Don't forget guys, the fuel has been in these sleds for a couple months (at least for a few of us):
No my dealer just prepped mine before I picked it up. Like I said before these motors seem to be exceptionally tight and once broken in it should be better.

And don't tell me you don't start it them a bit too often just to hear the engine with out a full warm up. :4STroke:

This is so very true, but it is all I got until it snows.:D :D ;)!
I can hardly wait for it to snow !!!!!!!!! I am checking johndee.com nearly every day

I've been extremely good about not staring the sled and it's not an easy thing to do!
I've only started mine from cold three or four times since I've had the sled home and I picked mine up the first weekend of October.

I've found that polishing and cleaning helps :D :drink:

Thanks for the responses guys.

I have not been giving it any throttle, my expectation was it would idle down without needing any.

I will give this a try. This is essentially what I have had to do in order to get it warmed up without stalling once I bring it down past half choke.

Point taken about the gas. I thought of this also. I will get some premium in there to freshen things up.

Won' be long now until we are riding LaLaLa

I just put lots of red things on mine to keep my mind off of starting it to much!!!! I just replaced my wheels + tires on my trailer. All three sleds are ready! Now I guess I will get bored and start it up. ;)! I "NEED" snooooooooooooooooow. :o| MM.

OK. I'll try to figure how to post pictures on this site. Hmmmmm. Hey phantom, is it any harder to post than on mayberry???? :ORC I have my vents powder coated red to match the shock springs-front small wheels to match the red back ones-red edge grippers on the tunnel. It looks very nice. I just need advise on posting them. MM :?

Phantom where did you get those mirrors???

Can you post some more pictures of the mirrors on your sled.

They don't look like yamaha but they look great where you have them mounted
