Had the 03 RX1 out today and it worked perfect -20 all day ,went to put it in garage and the warning light and engine indicator were flashing together what appeared to be a 2 code ,coolant , oil ok, everything looks alright. I went on this site and found the codes for the RX and it says handwarmer circuit but it only mentioned the warning light flashing not the little engine indicator , do they flash together and the grips seemed really hot and I had to adjust them down a few times today, can someone give me their input... Thanks

Both lights do flash together at the same time, like you said the 2 flash pattern is a grip warmer short circuit. Were the grips still getting hot after the warning lights came on...? If so, maybe it is just the cold messing with the ECU.

Here are the 3 pages of warning codes from the manual:

And here are the pages about testing and replacing the grip warmer system:

Yes the grips were working ok, do they usually get real warm and when I adjusted them to cooler setting and shut the sled off they would be on high again when I restarted, is that normal ? And thanks for the pages!!

that is normal on the 03 rx1. there is a mod to add the memory posted in here if you want to bother with it.

Thanks for all the input ,can someone tell me where the resister is located for the grips and is there a fuse .if I have to disable them for a day or two?

I get a warning on the wifes 05 rx1 the orange engine light blinks 3 times pauses blinks 3 times pauses and does this until we ride and then we dont see again until the next time we start it. Its not the you cant ride until its warm enough light. I think it means the thumb warmer is disconnected.

There is no fuse for the warmers that I know of, the warmers are wired directly to the CDI and then out to the switch. It gets it's power and control from the CDI so there is no easy way to turn them on/off.

Here is a picture I made of the wiring diagram with the legend. You can see how the warmers are wired and the color of the wiring.

Sled Dog, you can see in the 3rd page of warning light codes I posted above that your 3 flash code is the Thumb warmer circuit. Your case sounds like a loose wire, check and clean and connections and see if that makes a difference.

Iwent from bad to worse, I lost hand and thumb warmers today would it be the resistor and where would it be located or can someone come up with something else??
