Here's one for you guys. My warning light comes on. Could be riding or could be just sitting at idle. Shut the sled off and start it back up and warning light is gone. But will inevitably return. Sled seems to run OK but did gurgle and bog once on takeoff. Warning light is steady -no blinking and no other lights on. I'm leaning toward a T.O.R.S. problem. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Are your grips still getting hot ? I unhooked mine in the springtime and mine came on till I hooked it back up. If one is burned out just hook the good up and the light should go out, Ken.

As far as I know, the warning light will only come on and NOT FLASH if your fuel is low, oil is low or engine is overheating.
I'd check for a stuck float in the oil dipstick, look in the fuel tank for a stuck float. If they're ok, change the coolant temp. sensor.

You can rule out the dipstick by unplugging the wires when the light is on. If it goes out when UNPLUGGED, the sensor is bad.

The grips seem to be working fine. I just changed the oil and filter but checked the level anyway and it was fine. Got 6 bars of fuel. When it came on while riding it was marginal snow conditions and i did think it seemed to be awfully hot. No overheat light though. I cut the strength level to 50-50 and added engine cool. Engine cool is an additive that our local race car guys use. Light came on again. This time while idling. I have ordered a rear cooler from Kevin at port yamaha. The sled is an 05 shorty and he really did'nt think i should need one. But i ordered it anyway. I figure cooler is better. The next time it happens i will try unplugging the oil sending unit. Thanks much for the input.

my experience with light was (light came on like it should when first started went through its cycle went out but came bck on and stayed on every thing worked fine prob was pod put on new one no problem since) ;)!

The coolers a good idea, but if it overheated while idling it would have shut itself off (saftey feature......if you start it up in the morning and get distracted for an hour when you go back in to put your suit on it won't cook itself to death).

When you say unplugging the oil sensor from the dipstick is suppose to turn off the low oil icon and warning light, well...Mine doesn't. If you unplug the sensor while the low oil light is on, it stays on. I have been having trouble with the oil icon popping on while riding and the oil level is full. on the stick. I unscrewed the dipstick and pulled it out with the sensor plugged in and it lit up the low oil warning, but would not go out when put back in the tank until I shut the motor down and restarted it. Looks like a bad sensor, but I'd like some feedback.

Wire chaffing. Most likely an old problem with wire chaffing. Could be anywhere. I had the same thing!!! Seach for warning light posts and check ALL your wire harness...EVERYWHERE!!!!

:exc:

UMM. Wire chaffing at 400 miles ??? I don't think that's it...Sorry, I didn't post the mileage. ;)!

Warning light problem

Sometimes you have to "Burp" the sled like a baby. Did a rage the other day and solved problem. Maybe that simple. Raise front end enough off of floor for air bubbles to creep to the front, take coolant cap off and give it a couple of hours. Good luck. :rocks:
