i recently posted an issue on busted headlight bracket. i took this into dealer & they said they would look into. yamaha took 3 days just to get back to them to say they would not warranty(no explanation). in the mean time i purchased the part because i was going on a trip and my dealer advised that i should just so part was available.
i contacted yamaha directly & was told to send in pictures. i did. i also fixed the machine so i could go away. they replied 2 days later saying " per warranty guidelines the complete machine had to be brought into dealer when this first happened, i'm sorry but we can not help you"
so here i sit, a whack of e-mails later, they will not even acknowledge that i followed what the dealer, let alone yamaha told me to do. upon initially speaking with yamaha i said i could present the machine to the dealer, they said no, wait and see when we review pictures.
wow, these guys suck. if i had been travelling and had this break where would i be ? still sitting in a hotel ? no, i would have purchased the part & fixed it. why do i need warranty ?
this is not my first run in with thier warranty, i feel like an idiot for purchasing the extended warranty

I'd suggest contacting them by phone and registering the complaint.
I think someone on this site has posted the phone number for Yamaha Canada regarding warranty issues.

Hey Yamaha Canada, what is the point of us Canadian's supporting your canadian dealers and spend more money purchasing locally to recieve a valid warrenty if this is what comes of it.
I sure am glad I said screw the warrenty and bought out of the states.
Sorry to hear about your luck sburtch!

Ditto, I also bought a US sled. I figured with the thousands I saved I will fix the small things myself as I heard Yamaha Canada usually tries to ignore them. Besides the fact that I have heard nothing but nightmares from my local dealer.
I really do love my sled though.

Mine just broke the other weekend. I ride groomed trails and with the so called rough trail sled too !!! I plan on fixing it with some alum. shim stock. Figured it would just break again anyway with a new part.Really not the best set up.

Mine broke also, but I did push back on the windshield a little, causing them to break.
I glued the little corners back in place, but expect it won't last forever.
I'll probably end up replacing the entire headlight assembly eventually. I do have a warranty, but don't expect this is the sort of thing that even Yamaha USA will cover.
There are a few things on these Apex sleds that are very fragile - this is one of them.
Sburtch good luck with Scott Harrison that guy has no clue on Yamaha Snowmobiles,i dealt with him last year regarding 20 wheels that i went through on my 07 RTX this guy should never be in customer service,he told me also to send him pics but nada was done he gets a vote from me for DUMBAZZ of the YEAR!!!! hands down

My pod windshild mount is also broken. I will just fabricare some aliminum bracket with rivets into the plastic. the problem is that they know that if it breaks you have probably been over the windshield. Yes the windshild platic bolts pop out but the bracket breaks at the same time. Poor design, but I went over the hood and landed with a ski tip up my A$$. Convert or Bountyhunter have a good fix, cant remember which one but they had the same issue. I will try to get them to post pics of the fix.

yes, i understand they may not warranty the part, but the way they have jerked me around, telling me to send pictures, then telling me there is nothing they can do because the complete machine was not taken to the dealer. especially after i offered dealer & yamaha canada the machine to look at.
now all i get is "read your manual, you did not follow warranty procedure"
man, it's really frustrating.
when i first got the machine the stitching on the seat seperated, i was told to send pictures in, then they said take the seat off & take to dealer !
they fixed, did not have to take the complete machine in.
my beef is i followed what they said & now i'm the one who did things wrong.
this allown breaks there frickin warranty rules.
love the sled , hate the customer relations, headin for the usa next time, will deal with the problems myself.

This is why I rarely opt for extended warranties (in particular 3rd party) when buying something and just stick with the basic warranty. If something is going to fail, ie. engine, major components, then it will most likely fail early on. After that, it's usually due to misuse.
It's a cash grab for the Dealer.
Save the money on buying a warranty, and use that for extra gas, oil and maintenance items.

I never have either, but I bought the 4-year on my ApexGT for $500, and it's been worth it. They covered some wheels the second year (won't now though), new Ohlins shock, the wires going to the EC shock twice, reverse beeper, a couple steering bushings, and now it's going down for the exhaust donuts, if not more. It paid for itself with just the shock alone! So far there's been no questions asked.
Where did you get 4 years for 500$ ???
Last last I checked on the Canada site, it's was 1,800$ + tax for one additional year.
I know in US it was 499$ for 4 years!

In the U.S. that's why I bought in the U.S., because Yamaha Canada sucks. Sburtch, I would call Chris Reid from Yamaha Canada. Maybe he can help you out and talk to someone for you. Did you buy the sled in Canada?
