Wasn't there a way to lighten the stock RX-1 seat?

I thought I read something about drilling some fairly larger holes in the seat base of RX-1 seats in the past to save some weight. I can't seem to find the post when I do a search.
Does anyone remember the procedure? I don't want to mess up a good seat.

I remember the post I think it might have been by Kachess. Whoever it was swiss cheesed the seat base and it saved like 2-3 lbs. If I remember correctly it was a 2" hole saw

I am the guy who swiss cheesed it to save a few pounds. I drilled the crap out of it and only lost a few pounds. It is crazy how light a Boss seat is and how hard it is to get the stock seat light. It must have heavy foam and fabric cause there ain't much left of my seat frame. I do know I add a couple of pounds to it during the winter from moisture. I'd go with a Boss if I could get it to support my tail light with my Excell exhaust installed. Plus, it's the front of my sled that needs a diet.

Does the seat hold together drilled to resemble Bonnie and Clyde?

Perhaps I'll perform a minimalist version of your drill job.

I already went ahead and bought and 05 seat because it save a little weight, added more foam and provides a higher more comfortable ride.

I know this may be blasphemy but, the Boss seats I have seen just don't appear to have same level of fit and finish as the Yamaha seats. I'll just do the best I can with the 05 Yamaha seat.

Thanks for the picture.

Check out these seats

Fit and finish is second to none, super lite and comfy.

Just paid for mine today, should be here in a few days. If anyone is interested I can snap some closeups of one and post them.

I have to say that after riding mine with the stocker and my freinds with the mountain mod seat I prefered to ride my sled standing up.

Made me realize just how low, wide and crappy the stock seat is.

Murray at mountain mod is a good guy, if anyone buys one mention that I sent you.
