The Nytro has a fail safe system. It will shut itself down if it gets too hot. Not recommended but it you let it idle to long on a summer day it will shut down after 10 minutes or so.
Don't know the temperature it will shut down but the highest I could ever get my Nytro was 188f (idling for 15mins on a warm spring day).
Temp Light will come on at 210-212f.
Avg riding temps are 150-180f.

Just to be clear, isn't the fail safe shut off only for the sled when idling? It won't shut off when riding is my understanding.

Correct, under throttle it will not shut itself off, only at idle will it shut itself down.

Ok, I just was in the Ft. Kent Maine Yamaha dealership and the head mech told me that the Nytro does shut off when in operation if it over heats. I'm REALLY wondering now!

HYFLYR is correct, it does only shut off if it gets too hot when idling (I seem to remember if the throttle has not been touched for three minutes).

They need to find a new head mechanic.

confusion
Well I read though the tech manual and it says when the light goes on shut her down or damage can occur and only auto shut off is when idling. I think they may need a new mech! I wish they guys at the dealerships new as much as the guys on this forum! I did read in some posts that some had their machines shut down due to high temps though. If there is no auto shut off, why would riders have their machines shut off in high temps? I don't mean to beat this to death, but I'm still wondering!
