After consulting everyone on my last post ( NEED HELP PLEASE!) Im convinced that the apex is the sled for me so I went and picked it up today a brand new 2009 APEX LTX GT and I'm so excited
Coming from 18 years of poo's , I bought a 2008 nytro two years ago and fell in love with the fit , finish , QUALITY of the blue and once i hit the gas of that four stroke there as no looking back never not ever !!!! the only problem was that it just didnt handle the way I like but I stuck with it and made some setup changes ( thanks to you guys ) and after a year it rides just ok but as I stated its gone and the APEX is the sled for me
can anyone save me some time and error and give me the proper setup tips I'm about 210lbs w/ my gear on...Thanks

If you have a good dealer he should have set it up for your weight for you. He's going to be in the ball park. I'd take it for a rip and see what you like and don't like. If your running on mostly groomed trails on thing you might consider is loosing the preload in the front end and moving the transfer rod back toward max a couple lines IMO. Whatever you do, this sled rocks and half the fun is tweaking it

from one metro detroit apex(attak) owner to another...you have selected a great trail sled...if you need help p.m. me anytime..
If you are studding it, you will have to add extra protection over the rear heat exchanger. Most are using pieces of sliders over the existing protectors. To eliminate darting, use dualie carbides, but they will push a bit in corners. I use Snowtrackers and love them. Wider skis than stock are good if you ride powder on lakes or off trail to keep snow from coming up over your windshield. Skinz makes a cool bag for the tunnel extension.

I have NO problem with the stock spring and stock shocks on my 06 Attak now at 4,800 miles; I go 260 plus the boots. I'd ride it before I started spending the $ otherwise you have nothing to compare to.

to light. but it depends on how you ride. but the revalve is a excelent upgrade. also the stock skis are not the greatest. i couldnt believe the difference with the pilot skis over stock. you should ride some miles and see what you think before putting money into it though. i ride aggressive most of the time so everything i did was a vast improvment over stock. whats great about these machines is that you can stand up and ride hard, but then sit downn, slide back on the seat and cruise in comfort.antpal22 said:whats the problem with the stock spring too weak or too stiff??

antpal,
Where you located at in macomb?
I rode mine twice before I made changes. I ride out of Trout Lake in the U.P. so there is a lot of boone docking around there. I put on set of Sly dog powder hound ski's to help with the submarine issues, next was a clutch kit from Ulmer racing. ( Stage II) I weight in at about 210 with gear on and Ulmer nailed my clutch setup.

the 23 mile and romeo plank area . sounds like you got it all hooked up ...speeking of hooked up I read from some people that they are worried about flipping it over and some say they get no traction ..did that change from year to year?
