With all the rumors flying about something new and exciting in the mountain segment, lets see who has the closest guess!
I say probably a fuel injected vector with front mount turbo and a 162" x 3"pitch track option about 170hp. I would rather have the rx-1 turboed and fuel injected but they will probably just fuel inject it .Yamaha would then have 120hp ,150hp and a 170hp mountain sleds.Forgot to mention that if they did this Yamaha would be #1 in sales in the west!

That's a great guess but I'm hoping for something lighter. I want something on the line of an M-7 with reliability, fit and finish and is more than a one dimension (it can be ridden on trails without the fear of dying)and of course comes with the option to buy a four year warranty at the time of purchase.
Now, I know what I am describing would probably have to be a direct injected two stroke or a smaller (800cc) twin with a turbo but that's ok with me.
I really want to see Yamaha get rid of the heavy chain case and go to lighter system of driving the track. Perhaps they could use a belt, ACT or something like a direct drive like the Indy lite used years ago (but much better).
I also hope they reevaluate their fastener lengths and have no more than two threads of their new lightweight titanium fasteners going through each titanium nut.
Give us extroverts from the factory with a track that works as well in the spring or fluffy stuff (even when going downhill for braking).

Hoping its a lighter one peice tunnel ,longer track options and factory turbo option for the rx1.

Hoping they also come out with something to get into the snowcross/snowmo race scene. They have waited long enough.

I would love a lot of stuff but I would expect them to make a small change this year and we won't see much of the big changes until 07 or 08'. Hope I am wrong, they sure could slay the market with 159 Vector turbo selling for $12k. But then, everyone would have them and that wouldn't be as much fun anymore!!!

I'm guessing a rider forward design with about 120 hp fourstoke...Revs are so popular why wouldn't Yamaha want to compete with that and take away some of their market...My guess

I have caught a glimpse of several of the new Yamahas while they were testing in Cooke City early Dec. Never once did I see a rider forward (REV/IQ) style sled. I did see a 159 or bigger mtn sled and of course there was the mystery sled that had a boost gauge and what looked like hood scoops where the side vents over the oil resevoir and belt guard are.

We won't see a durable sled as light as an M7 those things bend right behind the footwells way too easy (see pic). I'm guessing another 15 lbs off the current RX-1 and RS Vector sleds, and the Turbo vector with at least a 159" for the mountain sleds.

i'm agree, too light is like not enough. Yamaha, is great to find the right spot. Give me a 640 solid wet weight sled, and i will be totally satisfy.

Oh, i've forgot to say, they shouldnt be able to carry 30 pound of extra ice in the rear tunnel :D

whats coming for 2006

Lets look at history.....1997 big changes, 2000 large changes, 2003 huge changes, 2006? I'm guessing big changes: 159x15x2.4, less20#, plus 5# boost with option for 9#, $12,000 price tag and more orders than they can fill

if they make a new mountain sled with a 159 and a turbo, im going to see if i can trade mine in.

i bought my sled on a yamaha card, you know the 15,000 dollar card they give you that you charge your sleds to... Can i just trade mine in and put a new one on that?
