So I've got around 12500miles on my 2011 apex se and the exhaust pipe finally failed me! Can they be welded back together or is that it? I guess if its broken what should I upgrade it with?

I’ve been told there’s an EXUP delete header available from a company out of Quebec at about half the price of Ulmer’s. you might want to call Dave at Hurricane and see if he knows anything about it.
There was another advertiser offering an EXUP replacement header. I thot it was around a G note as well.

Would love to support Ulmers but its 1800$ Canadian for that unit I think I try and find the Canadian vendor. So no one recommends getting it repaired? Talked to one welder he seemed hesitant to fix it.
You could get a exhaust pipe sleeve that fits snug. Slip it over the break and clamp it down with exhaust clamps.

the exup is titanium it cant be welded without specialized equipment and is near impossible and very expensive if you can even find someone who can. Darren the EXUP is not that big of a deal but the newer model Apex's are worth the investment. the reason to consider a replacement EXUP delete header is the factory one it 2400.00 if I remember correctly and the headers that delete it are stainless steel so they can be welded if they break and are right around 1000.00 I know that Travis at Barn of parts has a couple used OEM ones in stock for a reasonable price.
Ulmer's header on the site is listed at $1345.99 which is not a bad price considering what you get. Now convert that to Cdn which is $1750 aprox. Add taxes, shipping and broker fees you are well over $2000 Cdn.
Spending the time and money for some specialized shop to weld it looks much better money wise.

It's a shame that the exchange, taxes, brokers, etc make it so difficult.

It’s a crime. CDN taxes are no fun. Brokers you can work around unless the shipper insists on ups.

Well looks like the old 06 is gunna have to do for now. Playin around with repairing/replacing the xup is a little too pricey for me.

If you plan on keeping your current Apex for any length of time, I'd spend the $1000 and install the stainless header. If you buy a used EXUP, who knows how long until it breaks as well??
Viper Dave deleted his broken EXUP header with Ulmers, and there is no noticable change in sled performance. I'm sure there's a brief moment in the power band where the EXUP might make a difference, but it's not noticable to me.
It seems like the 12,000 mile range is when they break...weird!
To be honest I think all it did was lesson the low/mid rpm drone noise and it seems they are a bit quieter than the early Apex.
My buddy has a 2011 Apex XTX with same clutching as me and not only is my 2007 Attak faster but the seat of the pants.... mine feels stronger. His runs good but just doesn't have that kick in the pants like mine does. He has had a little over rev issue though where it wants to tach around 11k, sometimes 11.1k, mine tachs perfect at 10.7 to 10.8k. He has all the weight he can get in his adjustable Dalton clutch weights. Maybe if he goes to a heavier base weight....not sure if it will wake it up...?
