Maybe it's too early but I've been checking craigslist almost everyday looking for a used viper. There's hardly any on CL. Everyone must
really like them and want to keep them! I talked to a few dealers about 2014 holdovers but they aren't budging much on price. Am I looking way too early? I've got the Viper fever!

There are two trains of thought going on here.
Dealers should have had piles of '15s around with the poor snow conditions last season. There are also plenty of folks with very low mileage sleds that may have wanted to sell every year, or every other year, but dont' care to since they haven't put any miles on them.
When you do see one used, they are many times cherry. We are so overdue for a good snow year. Good luck in your search . If you fill out your location info, I am sure guys will chime in with options in your region. I know of a dealer in my region with 25 2014's in his warehouse!

Wow 25 is a lot. I'm in the minneapolis area. I'll fill in my location when I get to a computer. I feel like I should be able to get a new 14 for less than 10k out the door but so far no luck. I'd actually rather get a used one though because A: price and B: it should already be broken in.

Here is the long and the short of it all. For some reason Yamaha was offering incentives to MN dealers that were not allowed to ND dealers so I have been told.
So Heinens in Osseo was blowing out the new Red/Black Viper std for $8995 last spring. For all I know they still have some. I think they had the LTX as well. But no Blue units. They also had some rentals and demo sleds in the spring. I was pretty much locked in, to go get one when I came across a friend selling a loaded up LTX SE in blue with all sorts of go fast goodies for less. So I bailed on the new sled.
My local dealer here in Fargo says he will not put another new Yamaha sled on his showfloor after "Yamaha Screwed the ND dealers" not offering the trade in credit, and incentives that dealers 45 miles down the highway could offer. So he sat on 25 new 2014 sleds that literally were collecting dirt/dust in his fenced in back lot. It was sickening to see all those sleds sitting there dirty like they were rode hard and put away wet.
They were nasty looking and he was asking near full retail or losing money. By now, he may have shipped them back to yamaha, or a clearance center at a loss. My bet is you will see these at Haydays for $8500 new. Or a higher volume dealer like Heinens. Call them up!!
On a flip note, when I bought my Apex XTX exactly one year before, I wanted to buy local and buy a left over 2011 XTX on his showfloor. He was well over book on that sled, and still sitting on that Apex this spring and unable to move on it. I drove to SD and picked up one at a dealer a year newer for over $2000 less. So what can ya do. you want to buy local, but that's just insane difference. I feel for them as I have purchased a number of items from Sleds to Waverunners. But if they cannot play ball for thousands of dollars, I too have to go elsewhere.

Sometimes....maybe all the time dealers in canada give rebates up to $3500 on year old left overs in november. I saved $3500 on my RX1 and $5000 on my07 FZ1.

Anyone wanna sell me their XTX turbo in blue cheap? Haha. I'll expand my search and I'm hoping to be at haydays on Saturday so maybe something will come up.

Like this one? I'm sure he won't sell but I will ask. Ok, I asked and he started laughing then gave me the evil eye. Sorry.

Wow it would have to be a pretty good deal for me to go on a 25 hour round trip to buy a sled in Denver. And yamahaguys, dang it!

There was one just in the for sale units with only a few miles on it.
I was a lucky one I bought a new 15 XTX off the floor at Heinen's for $9,200

That's funny I'm selling my slightly modded viper. No turbo. But at, I feel an awesome price and not one person has looked at it yet and its been posted here a few times and a couple other sites for a couple months.

Oh I should also add to this. The viper is an awesome sled. I'm just in the market for a new sled that is lighter then the viper for what I like to do. I have no issues or any complaints. Other then its heavy..
