I just ripped my sled half apart to check things over including the exhaust doughnuts. They were shot along with my RA cable is broke AGAIN. Rest of the skid is in good shape. I have really been on the fence on getting an Apex, but dealer wont give me squat for a trade in and even in the classifieds all I get are low ball offers. Now that it's half apart I am REALLY tempted on parting it out
Can any of you help me determine what I might see if I part my sled on some of this stuff? Anyone part out an 03-04-or especially an 05 recently?
What am I up against to pull the motor? Never done it but it don't look like it will be too bad. Half the sled is already apart anyhow...
Motor (6500 miles) minus the carbs, starter, coils, headers?
Skid Frame minus the shocks
Mono Shock
front shocks
Clutches
Starter
Carbs
Coils
Tunnel
A arms
left and right bulkheads
ECM
Seat
used ECP kit but with never used clutch springs
Speedo unit
handlebar controls
oil tank
Anti Ratchet drivers
track (not original...fully clipped Ripsaw with about 1800 miles on it 144 studs
Anything else significant that I am missing...feel free to mention it.
I have poked around, but have not found a lot of info on what a good 05 motor will fetch and that I think is really a baseline on where I am starting off. I've seen some parts...but the 05 is somewhat unique since it had the most changes to the motor, skidframe weight, seathight etc....
Thanks for any input guys!

I saw that one. Seems like he is a little high for an 03 motor?
Nobody here has bought or sold an 05 motor recently? I was hoping I could see 2500 out of since out of the 03-04 & of they were the best as far as I have read (oil issues, weight etc...)
Anyone?
I have looked around but I don't see much as far as 05's
Sled is already half apart for maintenance and I think I am just going to go the rest of the way with it.

No idea on the parts.
Seems like such a waste of a good sled. Gotta do what you gotta do.

Yeah it is a perfectly good sled...but all I get is lowball offers. I know timing is bad...but even if I wait until next year it's only that much older.

I bought a 96 Polaris Ultra 2 years ago with a HTG 900. It was in mint shape. I had two pistons split in half in the first 200 miles. Second one took out a cylinder and bent the center rod. I decided to not put it back together. I sold the chassis on ebay and parted out the motor to the guys out west. Got more out of it then I paid for it. So I know what you have to do. Good luck.
