what are bad dougnut symptoms?

When mine were bad it would pop through the exhaust when you let off the throttle at speed. Both My RX and the attak did that. As soon as donuts were replaced no more popping on deceleration. I get about 5000 miles out of a set.

Mine did not show any signs until I had the shield off and noticed black around one of the pipes but not the others. This is what they looked like.

Plug the exhaust pipes with tennis balls, if the engine dies they should be ok. If the engine stays running it has a leak and needs to have donuts or flex pipes inspected.

I have this popping/backfire noise at WOT only and it sounds like it is in front of me or maybe below me but I dont think it is comeing from behind me.

Just don't do like I did when you do the test. I did it outside with a semi-cold motor. Was checking it after an exhaust repair. I discovered every thing was tight only problem was I fouled the plugs when it stalled :o| . Had to drag inside and change plugs :o| . PITA. Live and learn.

Carefully inspect those Y-pipes if you take it apart ;)!

Plugs and exhaust donuts are maintenance over time and mileage...
?????? OK?

I was just saying do the tennis ball or rag plug with a warm motor or you are likely to foul the plugs like I did.

I was able to take the apex out today for a short ride, man this thing will hit 90 in a heartbeat! anyway I did not have my helmet on and the backfiring is coming from the exhaust and not the front as I thought,I then just used my leather gloves and put my hands over the exhaust outlets and the motor did die down to 1000 rpm's but it kept running and did not die, so everyone says it backfires on decceleration not acceleration, so what do you guys think?

If it did not stall there is a leak somewhere. It could be donuts or a cracked pipe. I suggest you inspect further.
