What HP would you like to see?

I personally don't need more HP. I agree with number1kyster, that Yamaha needs to put that engineering might to work on a totally new drive system. Reliable FI 150 HP motor with a lighter weight, more efficient, reliable drive system equals more performance and more fun in my book. Drop that on the compition and watch them scramble to catch up.

The apex 150 genesis hit the market and Yamaha cover pretty well all the need for every one 80-120-134-and 150 hp sled, if i was Yamaha, i keep the 150 genesis and make an H.O. version of the apex to compete whit the MACH and the next reasonable step is 170 hp!
If Yamaha make one like this in 2009 i will buy one for sure!!!

As strong as the 150 hp is compared to the other manufactures 160-170 hp sled I would think 170 hp would be more than enough - I've heard some pretty strong rumors that they will have just that for 09 - the horsepower war is a little out of hand - how many times do you need to go 100 + mph? - in a typical season of 2000 + miles I run my sled up to top speed maybe 2 or 3 times at best - if I had a lake to run on where I ride it might be different, but right now 140-150 hp does everything I need to do!! - can't see needing anymore for trail riding!?!?

Yamaha would own the market if they did this! All other sleds wouldn't stand a chance!

I think if they could liten the sled 50lbs or so they would be money ahead. I would say to push the motor as hard as the r1 it would be a timebomb in a sled.

Of course 180hp but if its 200 thats ok too lol

Something I have been noticing with the DB2 chassis vs the FX stuff is the Depth of the runningboards. I say a New chassis FX version is coming for the apex. reason I think this is because even with the Mtn riser on My Attak it still isn't as comfortable and correct ergonomically as My Phazer. I say the DB2 chassis will be modified or Phazed out starting in 09.

Even though Yamaha could do highest hp with little effort, they won't. I predict a match but not exceed mentality of maybe 170hp. The 800 2 strokes are pushing 160 now (Polaris 800 was supposed dynoed at 158 and heard similiar numbers on the ski-doo) so they need to move it up a notch. I predict they will concentrate more on the weight reduction aspect to get the power to weight ratio better. How many times can you use the full 170hp potential - lake racing only. For 95% of trail riding - give me power to weight ratio anyday.
