What HP would you like to see?

the 01 r1 bike engine was in the 03 rx1. the 04 fuel injected r1 engine was in the 06 apex. expect to see the 07 r1 engine in the 09 sled. 4 valve head, variable intake tract length, 170 plus hp. 3 year cycle on the sleds, 09 is the next new one.

Any thing less than 170-175 is an insult. Why not offer a turbo option? I would deal with the weight if it had some really serious nuts. If they can't crank it up, I'm going back to two stroke I think.

FOR NOW!!!

Yamaha needs to build a sled that puts out he most HP in the industry. Then they need to build a 150hp sled that weighs the same as a rev wet. Not the new Rev but teh Current rev.

My dealer said 2wait for 09 apex,i wont be dissapointed, new 4 valve motor to come out,i hope at least 165 hp to keep ahead of the top iron out there..

You'll be waiting forever if you expect to hold out for more power. Things will always improve. If sleds have gone from 60+ horsepower a long time ago 'till what we have to choose from now, just imagine what we'll be seeing in another 10-15 years!

At the beginning of this post one of the questions that I asked was if people were satisfied with the HP of their Apex.Attak or RTX. Not one of the 35 responses to this post said they were, instead most expressed their interest in higher power sleds. I would say this post shows the vast majority of us are looking for and expecting more power from Yamaha. I am hoping for more power as well and if Yamaha does up the fun factor then I will be purchasing a new sled. But if not......I will be keeping my current sled because besides the lack of a few less ponies then I would prefer, I love my sled.

Well you tittled it,how much hp would everyone like to see,and most of us posted what hp we dream about having in our sleds,as far as being satisified with the hp of any stock sled myself,NO i have yet to buy any sled stock that has made me 100% satisified with its power, and have modified most all of my sleds that i thought were worthy enough to mod.

I also really believe we will see a new Apex chassis in 09!

If they give us 160 horses & 40-50 lbs lighter sled, which can be done without hurting our reliabilty easily, we'll have one hell'of a winner boys!!!

It must come in a 136" also this time!!! [unlike Nytro & Phazer]

I don't believe they would have put the Vector in the Apex chassis & call it their "price leader in that segment" if they weren't going to upgrade the Apex!

Again, Time will tell!

I'd like to see 175 to 200 H.P. from the factory; if not, I'd like to see an aftermarket programable chip that will let us dial in our own HP requirements. From what I hear, these motors can handle a lot more power.

;)!

LOL, if you asked me in the fall, I would likely tell you the horsepower was way more than adequate...... however just coming off of 2300 miles, I think 175 would be alot of fun. I'll be purchasing an '09 hopefully with more HP.

My Apex RTX has about 203HP when I'm on the nitrous. Now that, is some bad #*$&@ power compared to the 152 without it. Believe me, It is some awesome fun compared to stock.

If they can get 175 HP out of the R-1 motor, there is no reason they shouldn't be able to get 180-183 HP out of the same motor on a sled. We are riding in much colder and denser air. Denser air means more HP :)
