Well all I can say is seeing is believing!!! I was at my dealer today dropping off my sled to have the rear suspension basically totally replaced. All my parts finally came in so it will have an almost all 06 suspension in it by next Wednesday. Here is what the dealer is installing: arm, pivot 1 part # 8FT-47331-00-00; bracket 3 part # 8FU-47417-10-00; arm, pivot 2 part # 8FU-47332-10-00; Qty two- bush, solid part# 90381-28108-00; Qty 4- bush part # 90386-15002-00; Qty 4- bush part # 90386-22002-00; Qty 2 Bracket 1 part # 8FU-47415-10-00 Total cost of all parts $625.95.
It pays to have a good relationship with your dealer. While there he showed me the dealers website and all tech bulletins. There is no bulletin directing dealers to do this work to the 05's. There were only two bulletins on the 05: one was for the updated RA protector and the other was for a different type of wrench to adjust the suspension. I know alot, I mean alot of people have said on this site that there is a bulletin so don't flame me!!! I am just posting my experience. Does that mean they won't do the same for you and replace everything???? Who knows? I know I have purchased 2 new snowmobiles and 4 new motorcycles from them in the last 3 years, lead motorcycle rides for the dealership and purchased lots of accesories. So I feel I may get alittle special treatment
I have been trying to sell my 05 in the clasifieds here so I can get a GT , but I might as well keep it now. It's like a new sled. I am also having them move the clip on the monoshock to the middle slot and tighten my limiter strap one set of holes while they have the suspension out. I would like a GT but, the 05 will rock with grease fittings and no worry's about replacing everything next year!

DO NOT MOVE THE CLIP ON THE SPRING. If it is not stiff enough, you need the stiffer spring. IF you move to the middle clip, the spring will deflect and rub the shock, and wear thru it. That is what happened to mine at least. Price on the shock is $1100

I have been debating this because I think my weight is right on the edge. I only weigh 206 and probably about 225 fully dressed and ready to ride. i don't carry any luggage etc... I have my preload at max and had to adjust my RA at max stiff to prevent bottoming out all the time. So my thought was to go to the center clip position and then about 3 or 4 on the preload, thenI should have some adjustability on the RA for trail conditions. I see not everyone is having a problem moving the clip and there was even an article in one of the snowmobiling magazines that mentions using the clip to adjust?? Is anyone else having problems after moving the clip? I have searched this site and have some ideas to improve the sled for me, just don't know if I am right?? Move the clip to the center, adjust preload to 3 or 4, tighten the limiter strap one hole, put alittle weight transfer back in (I have it halfway between standard and min right now). Then I don't have a clue on what to do with the front suspension??? I never ride off the trail and ride U.P. and northern Wisconsin trails. Anyone that rides these trails knows they can be smooth as glass in the morning and moguls by noon. My riding style is aggresive and don't like my nephew being able to keep up, with an occasional race or two. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

I too weigh 200 and all I did was to move the spring adj to#6, which is the suggested postion for that weight.
I didn't have any problems with it in that postion last year for 5320 miles and no bottoming.

WOW your groomers must do an excellent job LOL!! When ever I got into the moguls at the recommended setting I was bottoming out big time and I was a few pounds lighter last year!

I tried the 2nd position and my spring never rubbed the shock, but it looked close.
What I found was the spring sagged pretty fast and quickly I needed the adjuster on #7.
The heavy duty spring was the way to go. Amazing improvement.
I have an extra heavy duty spring. I'm going to place it in the classified (whenever I get around to it...)

ReX,
I would purchase it from you but the sled will be taken apart tomorrow and I want to just get it done. Thanks for the advise it sounds like the strong spring is the way to go.

How many different springs does Yamaha have? I just had the clip moved to the third position, but after reading this I think I'll order a spring. I rode it in position one at the end of last winter when I bought it, and it would bottom out constantly.

I found this in a different thread tat linked to yet a different thread. From all the information I can gather on this site, it seems if you are over 225 go to the heavier spring. According to the other threads there are three part #'s
8FU-47489-00-00 , K=44N/MM
8FU-47489-10-00 , K=63.7N/MM
8FU-47489-20-00, K-29.4N/MM
The center one 63.7 is supposed to be the stiffer spring???????? I think the k=##.#N/MM is the weight of the spring per Milimeter???
Anyway, I just called and ordered one even though my sled may be sold come Wednesday. If it is I will just take it off and use it on my new GT!!! The spring was in stock in a warehouse in Wisconsin.
