What a blast I had todaqy getting to ride these machines in Brainard. We could only ride on the lake with one very small stretch through a swamp which had some big bumps that were 12-20 inche tall They did however resemble the type of bump I encounter often where I ride in MN, WI and MI. The course was a bout 2 1/2 miles long, they had a groomer break up the snow, on our course. The temp was only about 10F when we started. I am 6'0" and 230ish with my gear.
Nytro-I liked everything about this sled and it put the biggest smile on my face, the transition from sitting to standing seemed to happen without thinking. It felt super light and easy to through around. It Flat out flew through the bumps, wish we'd had more to try it on. This was the only sled I rode today that I was not able to bottom out. The quick response from the throttle was neck napping. The Nytro has the highest bar height, it is 2 inches taller than the gt, rtx and attack and the seat was highest too. Oddly enough for me this one seemed to stay planted the best with little or no ski lift on the hard packed frozen lake top. The windshield is worthless but who cares. I was most surprised by this sled for the fun factor. The only thing missing is that 70 mph punch the 4 banger has.
RTX- This an awsome ride the new fi is unreal in how fast it responds. The rider position is very natural, easy to move way forward and lean into a fast 60mph corner. You could also just sit back and cruise too. Not as easy to stand up on as the nytro due to the lower bars. I think the fox floats were low on air because this was the tippest sled I rode today. It felt lighter than my 05 rx. I did notice a vibration on this sled in the 45-85 range. I easily bottomed this sled out in our short bump section, later looked at the shock and it was on the 7 position with the tunnel on almost full hard. I talked for a long time with one rep about this. Maybe the spring is just tired or its a proto but I would need more rear susp.
GT- Much the same as the RTX for our conditions only I thought this sled had a more responsive power plant and was just unbelivable how smooth it is, and the sound is incredable. I saw 112 mph on this one in a pretty short distance. This one bottomed too but not as hard, the front end felt great. The elec. shock was set to full for my lap and at high speeds (80+) in the full hard position it kicked you in the butt over the rock hard bumps on the lake. You need to be stopped to adjust this. What an awesome sled, very minor tuning it would suit my needs to a T.
Vector GT- Comfy smooth and quiet. Very light feeling, I had not ridin one before and loved it. Much, much ,much warmer than the the appex's. Saw 104 mph on this sled, stable and predictable. The 3 bang really surprised me. There will be one of these in the garage in the next couple years. I would hold out for EFI. It is sneeky fast just not the same wham that the 4 bag has to offer.
Attack- by far my least favorite sled, I felt the extra weight right off and it was the only sled through the bumps that I thought the rear end was all over the place plus you could feel the weight in the bumps and I bottomed it hard. It also IMO pushed around the corners. It was very stable and it sure does hook up but for my riding I'll stick to the 121's. It also felt like the extra track cost you from 60 mph on where the GT would flat out set ya back, the attack didn't. I really never have bought into the threory that 136's go over bumps better than 121's and the extra weight would not be worth the floatation you get as it is very rare we get any boondocking around here.
Some closing thoughts. Yamaha has put out one hell of a line up, these are amazing snowmobiles considering where we were 4 years ago. All the mono sleds need stiffer rear springs for my weight. Rider forward is awesome and very natural. The fi 4 bang is the coolest power plant in any sled, period. I will have one next season or the season after. The nytro is just a blast to ride, a huge homerun with this sled. The vetor gt might be the perfect trail sled in the most catagories. I'm holding off on judging the fox floats until more people ride them next year. If I snow checked right now I would be getting an Appex ER, if need later adding the piggies to the front. Since you have to stop to adjust the olin shock I think I can reach down and turn a knob for the $$ savings. Plus I want a blue one. I won't be buying a 136 anytime soon. My 05 is still a great sled and I can't wait to put more miles on it before moving up to an appex.
Our lead guy was the one riding the nytro and others on the consumer dvd and he flat out hauled #*$&@ on a venture 2 up.
I'm sure I've forgot a few things and will try to give an honest answer to anyones questios.
Thanks Tom for the opportunity.

SRXBob,
I'm genuinely surprised at your comment about being able to "easily bottom out" each of the monoshock suspensions. I'm about 60 lb. heavier than you and the only one I bottomed out HARD was the Vector ER........when we were riding the extra-wide side of the road, I went high toward the road to swoop back across the bottom and there was a LARGE hole right in my line.....too late to change.....and I remember my thoughts being: "Oh Chit!!! THIS is goin' to leave a mark" ..........HOWEVER, one large bang in the rear end, and I even stayed on the sled
........ ask SledderSteve.....he was right behind me and I can only assume he was laughing his a$$ off.... :?

Buddah....all I can say is we had a short blast through some pretty big stutter bumps I tried to hit them the same eveytime and the nytro was the only one that just flew over them. On every other sled I felt the bottom.

Is that a good or a bad thing?

The seal was out of the GT and they pulled thesled and put it in the trailer. The RTX he only had the shock set at half setting I remember seeing it when ne was talking about it. Sorry guys I posted under the heading of where Toms 06 report?. You can read it there.

Terry...when i rode the RTX it was on the stiffest can setting and the tunnel was on 3/4 hard. I looked right after I got off it.
The GT was fading and had lots of sag in the rear.

Nice report Bob--You have to stop to adjust the shock on the GT? Why is that? If that's true, it definitely counts that one out of my decision! I'm with you on getting Apex ER and adding the piggybacks.

SRX the GT had a seal out of it. It bottomed with me and I only weight 156. They pulled it. Did they tell you they were putting hevier springs in the rear shock? They told us earlier in the day it would be stiffened up.

Yes you have to be stopped according to the yami test pilot guy. I think that since you have to push the button on the dash and then adjust the shock with the handlebar toggle it might be a safety hazard if done while moving.
Terry....I figured all those fat guys from WI last week must have pounded the crap out the prototypes. Nothing but beer and cheese. Thats why the seals are out on them.
kidding of course.

Depending on what model you plan on purchasing. Get what you like and if you like more than one, get both.

Glad to see you've had a chance to know what you aren't going to purchase.
I get it now.
Mighty(150 fuelie).....I would't go base your purchse off what I reported. In 99 I bought a 136" MM and I hated it. then I bought a 00 SRX and now the 05 RX1. I am used to the 121 and ride alot of twisty trails and don't want any push or extra weight to throw around. Also keep in mind they had pretty weak runners and stock skies on very hard packed ice with some very hard crusty snow on top where you would hook and then slide. On the rage I had to gas it and let off to force the skies to grab. Certinly not ideal or groomed trail like. I did like the attack hook-up and the high speed stabilty. If you are not a boondocker and contrary to LB's preaching a am not on the 136 wagon.

I guess I'm gonna keep on reading posts. I have plenty of time to decide, dealer already has my down payment, I just need to let him know which sled to order. I keep going back and forth between the GT and Attak. I like the idea of the light nimbleness of the GT but also loved the stability my Warrior had at speed which leads me to the Attak. I may simply flip a coin, heads GT, tails Attak. Or should I make the Attak heads, GT tails
