I'd go with White Knuckle if I was going to add a pipe, but the idiots that we have for Cops in Ontario will ticket me for modifying the exhaust.
i am going to get the excell for my 07 attak, i like the cleaner looks of the single outlet out back rather than yamis ice cream cone duals.... the sound clip on the net is swwweeeeeeeeeeetttttt........
i like the sound of the hauck and whiteknuckle as well, the hauck is deeper and the whiteknuckle is more of a tinny raspy sound....
just my observations......

where did you hear the Hauck pipe
where did you hear the Hauck pipe, I still can't find a sound clip of this pipe, just read that it sounds like you described. I'd really like to hear the Whiteknuckle , loud pipe and the Hauck .

Look at my reply on the first page of this topic about the MPI using the Hauck pipe.

Yeah I seen it, I didn't know that so thx that was good to know! I would still like to hear both the Hauck/MPI pipe and Whiteknuckle race pipe....ANYONE ......someone has to have a sound clip of these pipes. I looked at the web site for the asphauly race the one member said he was on and was running the race pipe but didn't se any links for anything, ..... some help on these two would be nice ! I live in Alaska and I'm wondering just how loud the race pipe realy is in comparison to the Hauck/MPI pipe with a full face helmet on. I have no worries about noise, the louder the better !!!!

Alaskin - White Knuckle won't be making a race pipe for the Apex/Attak, just the trail version. The race pipe they made was for the RX1. Sorry for the confusion.

REALLY.....dang that was a nice gain 4 h.p. through the entire power band , i'm sure it had to be more in certain area's . That's double the h.p. of excell at almost half the price too. Maybe Someone else will be making a race version that will yield similar results. THX for the info, that helps!
that whiteknuckle race version is ear piercing loud..... it goes beyond what "sounds good".... and i believe was designed with closed course racing in mind, not trail riding at all..... the trail version is much more trail and land owner friendly, remember our trails are sometimes on THEIR land......

LOL..... I live in Alaska where we don't have trails or groomed trails to ride, we ride state land in the mountains and valley's where noise is NOT a concern, some of the tripples here are extremely loud , the site indicates it was for closed course racing. I do how ever appreciate your input and still wish we could hear it....... your opinion of beyond sounding good is just that. Your personal opinion , some of us guys might not mind it...... but It's not a concern anyway because it's not for the Apex.onlyblue said:that whiteknuckle race version is ear piercing loud..... it goes beyond what "sounds good".... and i believe was designed with closed course racing in mind, not trail riding at all..... the trail version is much more trail and land owner friendly, remember our trails are sometimes on THEIR land......

Why don't you like the pipe, I won't be buying one till late summer, unless something comes up I just can't pass up. Hauck has them on sale right now for 450.00 , so you might do better by hanging on to it until prices go back up when it's season. I am curious though why you don't want the pipe, perhaps if you still have it come Oct. I'll take it then....time will tell. Seems like alot of guys aren't real happy with the output from the pipe, maybe expectations were to high ?

Thought it mightbe helpful to note that the White Knuckle is baffled and is totally maintainance free.
The Excell as well as the Hauck/MPI I believe are packed. Those require repacking from time to time. On the Excell it is very easy to do because the endcap unscrews. On the hauck, not positive, but I think you have to drill the rivits out, that is besides pulling the seat to get to it.

THX Tork, that is something to consider along with it's cheaper price and the fact that it's power gains have been proven on the dyno like the Excell . Good comparison, how long would you expect the packing to last ? Couple years , or by mileage ? I asume it get's louder and louder until it's basically a straight pipe ? THX Tork this will weigh on my decision!!!

Dont know exactly. Had a D&D on my motorcycle for 3 years and I had to repack it every 2000-3000 miles or it got too noisy.
Construction on it was basically some sheet aluminum wrapped around 2 endcaps and the whole thing was rivited together. Problem is the rivots ripped thru the sheet aluminum and in 3 years it was junk. I would want to know how the Hauck is made, as this type of construction can be fragile.
